ScourgeBringer Travels to PS4 And Vita

There’s a new roguelite platformer, Scourgebringer, that just arrived on Playstation 4 and Vita…yes, we said Vita. You might have heard Sony had plans to shut down the digital market, but they changed their mind a week later. They probably held off the handheld’s execution date so this specific game could be released on it properly. “Oh right, ScourgeBringer.”

Guide our hero Khyra as she hacks and slashes her way through the corridors of a dangerous dungeon on a mission to save her world. Helping her out is a combat drone that you can use to shoot enemies that her sword can’t reach. The game is partially inspired by The Binding Of Isaac, and as such does not allow backtracking, instead relying on a procedural combination of pre-built challenge rooms.

Developer Flying Oak Games is aiming specifically at the Vita niche with this, and has even managed to produce a physical version…how, you may ask, when Vita physicals have been shut down? They’re doing it directly from Japan — the one area where cards are still manufactured — and utilizing the help of Play-Asia.com to ship physical copies of ScourgeBringer out to Western countries. Yes, there will also be a PS4 physical if you’re not a Vita nut…preorder yours here.
