Nolan North Cast as New Voice of Ghost for Destiny, Peter Dinklage's Voice to be Jettisoned
Adding to the already poignant line that “nothing is irreplaceable”, Game Informer has revealed that Bungie is not only letting voice acting legend Nolan North voice Ghost in the upcoming Destiny expansion, The Taken King, but also, he’s re-recording all of Peter Dinklage’s lines as Ghost from the main game as well.
“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” said creative director Luke Smith
“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it,” Nolan North said. “They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”
So, why the big swap? Well, despite early excitement, fans weren’t really impressed with Dinklage’s delivery of Ghost’s lines in the game. Thus, the switch for The Taken King, but then (as you saw above), North’s delivery was so well received that they decided to do the full swap for the rest of the game.
Destiny: The Taken King is due out on September 15 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
