Next Season On Supergirl, Superman Will Actually Appear
It’s well-known by now how Warner Bros. has this weird aversion toward showing Superman or Batman on live-action TV. Reportedly, it’s because they fear it’ll diminish the power of their big-screen counterparts. It’s the reason we’ve gotten so many deflections over the years like “Smallville” and “Gotham” that take place in the same universe but before anything really happens. It is also why CBS and The CW got SuperGIRL, not SuperMAN, and why Big Blue’s face was constantly obscured during the few moments he appeared.
Well, no more! I’m pleased to report WB has finally come to their senses and realized they do enough of a job harming their heroes through Snyder movies, not through “spoiling” them on TV. And so, Superman will appear on Supergirl next season. No more lens flares, no more convenient shadows, and no more hypno-rays that make Superman stop flying toward the camera just before his face becomes visible. Clark Kent is visiting his cousin for real!
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had this to say: “Greg (Berlanti), Ali (Larter) and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of ‘Supergirl.’ Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Casting is currently under way for the Clark Kent role.
