Man of Steel 2 Reportedly in Development
The first true feature film from DC Comics and Warner Bros was the original Superman starring Christopher Reeve. Then, when the DCEU was planned out, they decided to once again start it of with Superman via Man of Steel. However, unlike the Reeve films, Man of Steel did not get a “direct” sequel. Instead, the second film in the DCEU was Batman V Superman: Dawn Justice. Which introduced Batman, Wonder Woman, and several other characters to lead towards the Justice League.
Regardless of whether you loved or hated Batman V Superman, many have wondered whether Man of Steel would get a true sequel. Now, according to The Wrap, it appears that is indeed going to happen.
“DC has been silent on a sequel to Man of Steel featuring Superman solo, leading many frustrated fanboys to believe that another film wasn’t going to happen. But a person close to the project told TheWrap that Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.”
Though it may be in the works, it’s clear it won’t be arriving too soon. As the Justice League films are being made right now. Likely, it’ll be one of the unnamed DC Comics films that are set for either 2018 or 2019. It’ll be interesting to see not only how Superman is portrayed in his next solo film, but what villain will be there to meet him.
