Luke Cage: Full Trailer Arrives Online
Marvel Studios and Netflix dropped the latest full trailer for the upcoming Luke Cage TV series online today. It features a great deal of new footage, and you can check it out in the player below. After making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage now steps up to the plate with his very own series debuting next month.
The new trailer gives viewers their first look at the MCU origin of Luke Cage. Interestingly enough, that clip had some visual references to Luke Cage’s old-school costume from the 1970s. It appears that will be the only visual homage to the classic costume. Well, Cage can also be seen wearing a hoodie, and the inner lining of the hoodie is a bright yellow color, which was the color of the shirt Cage used to wear.
The footage also features some new footage of Rosario Dawson’s return as Claire Temple, along with Simone Missick as Misty Knight. It appears at one point, Cage will rescue Temple from being run over by a car by jumping in front of it and smashing it in a smash. The trailer also gives the show a bit of a classic 1970s blaxploitation movie look and feel, especially with the music. That’s good because it appears Luke Cage will have a different, overall more unique feel from the other Netflix Marvel shows that have come before.
Luke Cage debuts on Netflix on September 30. All 13 episodes of the first season will be available to stream at launch.
