Ghostbusters Returning To Theaters This October
There will no doubt be a lot of ghost-related movies available to watch this October, but none more important than the all-time classic 1984 comedy Ghostbusters. Often imitated, never duplicated, you’ll have another chance to see it on the big screen thanks to Sony Pictures and Fathom Events.
Suit up for classic comedy for this special 35th anniversary event!- “Ghostbusters” boasts an incredible cast led by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as a group of intrepid paranormal investigators who go into business for themselves to rid haunted buildings of troublesome spirits, unaware that their endeavor could save the world. Written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, and Produced and Directed by Ivan Reitman, “Ghostbusters” also stars Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts and William Atherton.
You’ll also get a special introduction to the film that shows off newly unearthed alternate takes and cut material. Fathom Events aren’t always widespread, but this should be one of the most widely available in the country. Use this website to see which theaters are getting showings near you.
The original will probably never be topped, but that won’t stop Sony from trying again. They’ve currently hired director Jason Reitman to come up with a sequel that could get a better response than 2016’s reboot “Answer The Call.” We know very little about it other than the focus will be a small family — Carrie Coon plays a single mother and Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace play her two kids. This family is supposed to have SOME kind of connection to the original characters, but it hasn’t been revealed yet.
We could get this sequel sooner than you think — Sony’s fast-tracking it for a release one year from now, in the summer of 2020.
