Xbox 360 vs. Playsation 3

Wow, what are the odds of having it crash on the second day. I say if you really have your heart set on a 360, try and get another one through replacements or soemthing.

Ive played the 360 and enjoyed it, but PS3 is where its at for me. Oddly enough, most of my friends have PS3s so Im set in that regard. And the controller is perfect for playing Street Fighter 4.

I dont know how much money you bought your 360 for or how much you got back, but if you do decide to look for a PS3, Gamestop is doing one of those trade-ins where you trade in a PS2 and 3 games to get like $100 off of a PS3. My friend did that a few days ago and even though he's happy with it, im not sure if I would have done it. Especially since there are no more 60gb ps3's with backwards compatibility. But, if you're fine with not playing your ps2 games, then I guess its an okay bargain. Just lettin ya know.

That could quiet possibly be the problem. Still, it doesn't make much sense though, because in order for your 360 to overheat, you would have to leave it on for a very long period of time. Honestly, I want to say it's the power cable, but I'm not definite. If Toys R Us is not cooperating, then your best bet is to call Microsoft. Beware though, their technical service is pretty bad. About 60% of the time their tech agents are incoherent.

only.. he already said he got his money back.

I know how he feels. I had it for 2 years. Then like a month ago I got the Red circle of death. I tried everything to fix the fucker. Nothing worked. So I traded it in to gamestop for store credit. Now I'm going to save up for a PS3. Advice for those that get X-Box 360. It sucks for playing dvds or data dvds. If you got data dvds full of episodes like I do or tons of DVDs it's better to get a PS3.

P.S. To those that ask no I didn't have my X-box on a lot. I barely played it. As for my data dvds and such. I used it for like 6 hours at the most. Had it off over nights. Shoot,I didn't have it on for like a week and a half. Turned the sucker on and bang red circle of death. Then I heard repairs would cost like 160 bucks. I said screw that. I just get a ps3. lol

Something similar actually happened to em about 2 months ago (there abouts, shortly after the release of Star Ocean 4) The video card started crapping out on me. It would play games fine for about 15 minutes before it would start glitching. It still worked fine for netflix and other videos, but it just started hating games. I moved it to the living room to keep it for streaming off netflix, but I went ahead and bought an arcade model for my game room (I had all the extras already, who needs to pay another $200 for a 120 gig hard drive when i already have one?)

Out of curiosity momo, how much credit did you get? I only live about 2 hours away.. if it's worthwhile I might just trade in my old one to help offset the summer releases.

yes there tech guys kept trying to screw me telling it was perfictly normal that my xbox was not shutting down and it was just the "fan" I attempted to explain to them that you shouldn't have to unplug a lamp to turn it off but they didn't get it :S I finally said I want to either talk with someone else or get it sent in for repair & then they gave up & admited it was fucked lol

I got it from Toys R Us since the other places were out of stock. I spoke to them about it for the third time and I finally got my money back.

Good for you for not letting them stick it too you :) Also who are they to say its from over heating... they are incompetent idiots who are not capable of making a call like that  If they were they would have better jobs than working at a TRU!:loltongue::buttrock:

All XBox360's when purchased new come with a 3 year warranty through Microsoft. Depending on where you bought your system, you should have a 30 day warranty automatically. (You couldn't speak to a manager? This is why I buy from GameStop. Did you know that there is always a manager on duty and behind the counter at any GameStop? We would have just swapped you out right then and there!)

360s can overheat easily if you do not take care of them. Do not set the system on a carpet or small area. Give them air to breath. Do not leave the console on if you are not using it.

You might have just gotten a defective. Do not let this one incident discourage you.

Mine's got a three year warranty for my Xbox 360 which is great news..

BTW the Playstation 3 is said to be getting a slimmer version of it soon..

Yeah a lot of people, especially with early shipment 360s handled them poorly like this and well they eventually died one way or another. Don't listen to people that will try and preach to you saying all 360s will die or have problems in the near future, especially if their 360 broke down because of poor treatment. If you treat it normally then it'll live long and prosper.

I leave my 360 on a wooden desk (owned it since Jan 06) and the console itself hasn't had any problems since I purchased it.
