X-Men 3: The Last Stand - Talkback *Spoilers*

Reading this thread, all I see is a three-way immature pissing contest between Sage, laudre, and Skyknight. All three of you have made utter asses out of yourselves... (and on an off-topic note: as a Wikipedian, I'm highly offended by Skyknight's signature, with him bragging about turning a Wikipedia article and talk page into the same kind of pissing contest as he did here).

I'd apologize, but you can't be the peacemaker by coming in here and calling people asses, man.

Just saw it and I have to say I was pretty disgusted.

They killed off Scott like he was a goddamn extra... the obliterated Charles for no reason and they brought back Jean to kill her dramatically.

To Brett's credit I saw no problem in his direction, but that there was just no material to properly direct.

I had no problem with Beast, I liked the action but this was awful. Just lots of no good ideas.

Bleh...

Might as well post my thoughts on the movie...

Scott got shafted. Again. I was hoping he'd have more screen time after he got shafted in X2, but alas...

Oh my stars and garters, Kelsey Grammar was _perfect_ as Hank McCoy. He nailed the character.

The presence of the Phoenix was rather unnecessary, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. She also could have been done better: I would have liked to see more of the "pleasure and rage" Xavier alluded to as opposed to wanton destruction. Thank goodness for not including the bloody Shi'ar though--they wouldn't have fit in the movieverse.

Nice to see Storm getting more screen time, but I hope it wasn't due to Halle Berry being a prima donna about it (earlier, she had threatened to walk if she wasn't given more lines). I just wish Cyclops got the same treatment...

Kitty and Bobby were both awesome. If they decide to go ahead with X4, I want the focus to be on them.

Ian McKellen is a wonderful actor. The expression on his face as he was cured was perfect. His reaction to Pyro's comments about Xavier's death was also very well done.

I'm surprised they got rid of Mystique...I liked her, but I give the writers credit for throwing that surprise out there.

I think the Cure was handled better in the movie than in AXM (which I considered disappointing--I expected better from Joss Whedon).

Overall, I liked the movie--it wasn't perfect, but it was pretty damn good, and I'm enjoying it far more than I'm enjoying the current 616 comics (other than X-Factor and Exiles, I don't really care about the current 616 X-books--the only core book I'm reading right now is Uncanny, and that's just for Tony Bedard's co-writing).

Edit: Forgot to mention a couple of things...

Best lines in the movie:
"I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!": Awesome.
"Grow those back": Heh.

I also liked the use of Madrox here.

Skynight is just a dude. Don't worry about him sparking some interforum war with ToonZone here. I'm good friend with that administration and consider its forum to be one of the greatest on the internet.

I do see some crappy pissing contest going on and really..... to what end guys? State your opinion and why ya have it, but you aren't going to change anyone's mind.

I thought the movie sucked. Hated it. I don't give two jacks if they follow the comic continuity or not. I don't need kno Shi'Ar Empire or whatever else.

I care about the mythos and the characters and they should've been protected and treated with respect.

Obliterating an iconic character like Cyclops is bullshit. Sure, nobody likes Cyclops, but if you're going to kill the guy he should've gone down for a reason and to make an explosive difference.

Same for Xavier.. if the MAIN GUY is going to go down, it's in the end to save the universe.

But still......... in an X-Men universe you just doing kill off Scott, Charles and Jean. You don't need to if you want a good franchise.

Bleh..... again.. disgusted.

1) Did we ACTUALLY see Scott die? Remember this is Marvel. Where just because a hero dies, doesn't mean they stay dead ;)
2) Did you see the scene after the end credits between Moria & "Charles"? I'd say Prof. X is FAR from dead.
3) The killing of Jean. Again, it's rare that any mainstay mutant actually STAYS dead in the Marvel universe.

Agreed on all counts.

Also, Jean has died so many times that I never consider actually dead, just resting ;)

Until I see him come back with an eye blast that saves the day, I'm holding on to my anger.

Yeeaaaaaah....... I don't know about that... I don't see a reason behind obliterating him, only to put his consciousness in anotherboad.... :redface2: :sly:

Jean's the only one I can see them killing, but still.... that the X-Men franchise may come to an end with Charles, Scott and Jean in the fuggin' grave, so the movie can be basically The Wolverine and Storm Show?

No.... simply, no. :shakefist

Thanks Keith, as he said, I never intended to start any interforum war with my sig, that would be the fault of those who take offense to what is there

I'll save my comments on how inane, biased, and narrow-minded TZ is for those who deserve to hear it. I'm fine with who you and others support, I'm just glad I'm still allowed to detest who I want to.

...Well he was a "goddamn extra" in the entire movie series:anime:

If Marsden had'nt had so many scheduling conflicts, they would have made his character more expansive, but he was always one of the more difficult actors during production, despite his clear passion for the role.

[Hide]They did'nt keep Charles dead for long, and he's been senselessy killed in the comics before[/Hide]

I often said it was the script and not the director to blame for half of what I did find perplexing.

Sorry you did'nt like it dude, but at least you had rational reasons based in the context of production and plot holes, not what they had to alter, which was the reason for all the disputes.

Yeah, I always judge a property on its own merits. Learned that a long time ago, which is why you'll never see mer critisize Power Rangers in doing somethign wrong because they didn't do it like in the Sentai.

Two seperate things for me. Sentai can do what it wants, PR can do what it wants... comic books can do what they want and the movie can do what they want... but if they do it poorly then I hold 'em accountable.
