X-Men 3: The Last Stand - Talkback *Spoilers*

There's a lot of people that hate it as well simply because when compared to the other X-men films it sucks.

Honestly I've always thought the X-Men films were lackluster and never really "caught" the X-Men like they should have. X3 just proves it. It partially suffers from "Daredevil the Movie" syndrome. They tried to shove too much **** into this movie. Instead of simply doing the Dark Phoenix Saga, they want to do a cure for mutants, they want to include Xavier's X-Men and Magento's Army/Brotherhood, and they shove in all sorts of characters to please people and they had so little time in the movie left that most people didn't even realize some of these characters were in the damned movie until they watched the fucking credits. That's plain ridiculous. Even X-Men was a better movie than this, and like I said, compared to Spider-Man and Batman the X-Men saga has always been poor. (X1 had Magneto wanting to turn the world into mutants. What I know of Magneto says he would never, ever do that. Kill all humans? Perhaps. But he would never deign homo sapien worthy enough to become homo sapien superior. You "fans" of the Ultimate-verse should especially be behind that since in that universe he doesn't even like TALKING to us. He considers it equal to addressing a frog or something.)

FTR, I think Skynight's problem is that he's in love with this movie, and anyone that doesn't like it is instantly a "bad" or "inferior" fan. The "comic authority" thing he and laudre tried to pin on me is very quickly becoming something he seems to want to take himself. At least when I brought up comics I brought up ones related to the movie (X-Men, specifically the diff. versions of the DP Saga) but now he seems to want to use this thread as an opportunity to address his problems with comics in general, like Civil War and Infinite Crisis--****, that's not even from Marvel!

I'm starting to support putting this thread out of its misery. Not 'cause I want to be a model poster, but because I know Skynight won't stop until he's insulted every single person who doesn't agree with him. Shame he can't see this, 'cause if he could I'd tell him to save his posts and just put us all on ignore. :P

Well, I think you know who is Skyknight. I have to agree with you on this. He doesn't respects people's opinions and he doesn't care. That is his own problem, not your, mine and others. HIS. PROBLEM.

I have a question... does this movie feels rushed to you guys? I don't feel like this movie was rushed. It seems fine to me. Well, I admitted it was only 104 minutes long, so yeah....

With all the mutants they had in this movie I think it should have been longer. I was disappointed that Cyclops and Angel had very little screentime. They made it seem that Angel was gonna have a bigger part. Other than that I loved this movie.

A lot of people will critisize if for whatever reason. But the fact is that the movie kicked ass. Who cares about what mutants were in it or not or what part they played or didnt play. True, from what 2 led us to believe, we were supposed to have a more Dark Phoenix Saga movie and not a battle between human/mutant regarding a "cure" i was on the edge of my seat from all the action the whole time. Being a comic fan myself i had my critique but i wouldnt go over the edge and start bashing it cause they did a few things that were wrong or made no sense.

Like complaining about Spider Man because Gwen Stacy was never in the movie or how the Kingpin was black instead of white or even how Dr. Doom never had that whole turning to metal deal. The whole point was to go to the movie and enjoy another chapter in a series of X movies that is not over yet.

I do have to disagree with the comparison to Daredevil. That movie was just disgusting (even though i havent seen it. THANK GOD!) To compare X3 to Daredevil is like Comparing Forrest Gump (Great Movie) to the Terminal (Just Ok)

And who would have ever thought Brett Raetner would step up to the plate like that? Mad props to him!

I've noticed a lot of people complaining about X3 not following the comics when there are movies that didn't follow the comics storylines and a lot of people still liked them. It's okay for the Joker to kill Bruce Wayne's parents or Superman to build his Fortress by throwing a crystal into some snow, but when a modern movie deviates we get relentless complaining.

This is driving me crazy how a lot of people are so pissed off about X-3 not following the comics, when X-2 didn't and X-1 didn't but they were great.. and Batman Begins OBVIOUSLY ignored everything that had to do with the comics and yet people love that movie so I'm confused on that part.

Why are people singling Ratner out for the changes in this movie? For example people are complaining that Juggernaut was a mutant in the movie when he wasn't in the comics: Why weren't there similar complaints about Deathstrike laid at Singer during X2 (she was a human who became a cyborg in efforts to kill wolverine because she wanted his adamantium which she DID NOT HAVE, and she didn't have a healing factor either)?

So they didn't make references between Juggernaut and Xavier being stepbrothers, Singer ignored the fact that Wolverine and Sabertooth actually knew each other before Logan got involved with the X-Men, or the fact that Singer NEVER made any connection between Rogue and Mystique (who was a foster mother to Rogue in the comics) or even the fact that Mystique was Nightcrawler's mother in X2? Or the fact that Jean Grey wasn't a Doctor in the first X-Men, Bobby was not a child in training when Logan joined the X-Men (he was an original X-Man) and supposed to be from the South? Or that Mystique was never a flunkie for Magneto, and Striker wasn't a U.S Soldier, etc. I find that hypocritical.

To be honest, I didn't like the movie quite as much, mainly for the fact that things seemed crammed into it and there wasn't enough time for much character development. It's nice how they showed a whole bunch of characters from the comic but without them having much lines or background to them, they seemed more as fillers than anything. Just what I think :P

Wait...you're bashing Daredevil when you hav'nt seen the Director's cut, the one which retains all of the scenes they cut from the theatrical release that pretty much gives the movie a backstory, a sidestory, a larger ellaboration on Matt Murdoch and does'nt make the film look like a plug for how useless Jennifer Garner is?

I'm gonna hafta second this. Before you dismiss the Daredevil movie altogether, check out the director's cut -- there's an entire subplot that also ties into the main plot (and fills in at least one gaping plot hole I can think of). The original script was actually pretty good, and reveals that the main problems with the movie involve casting (Ben Affleck, a man about as effective at dark and brooding as Barney the Purple Dinosaur, and the overrated Jennifer Garner, who looks about as Greek as I do -- and I'm a pale-skinned Celtic type) and some of the production design (I swear, Daredevil looked like he fell into the Revlon counter).

Ehh. If I want good Daredevil, there's Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, and Kevin Smith's "Guardian Devil" arc (that actually made me a DD fan in the first place).

Well, Joker originally DID kill Wayne's parents. Nonetheless, I hated Batman. :) That said, Superman was a good movie aside from the deviations. X-Men 3 is not.

But Batman's training gets retconned with each retelling. Plus it worked with the storyline. Everything else really wasn't ignored, and its not so annoyed because it isn't outright doing some popular comic story and fucking it up. It didn't even do the cliche, "let's do Batman Year One!" idea.

Why are people singling Ratner out for the changes in this movie? Because Deathstrike's a D-list X-Men villain (but an A or B-list Wolverine villain, problem is this movie ain't about Wolvie) and Juggy's an A-list.

So they didn't make references between Juggernaut and Xavier being stepbrothers, Singer ignored the fact that Wolverine and Sabertooth actually knew each other before Logan got involved with the X-Men,

Again, movie ain't about Wolverine.

or the fact that Singer NEVER made any connection between Rogue and Mystique (who was a foster mother to Rogue in the comics) or even the fact that Mystique was Nightcrawler's mother in X2?

See, that's just headache inducing.

Some stuff's pretty important, some stuff isn't as, is my only answer.

So what you're saying is that they screwed up, but you're going to excuse it anyway? Okay!

I actually thought Gwen should've been in the first movie and MJ should've been in the second. Gwen dying would've been totally insane and made SM a much cooler movie, and it was already awesome. Kingpin may've been black, but it worked. They picked a good actor. As far as Doom and FF....that movie sucked. Comic fans put up with too many changes from directors and writers when movies come out, I think, in an attempt to be accepted by mainstream or just to see their fav characters on the silver screen.

Sorry, its what I feel man.

Sidenote: Guardian Devil? A Frank Miller story with mysticism added. :P
