Would you enjoy a super sentai with just 5 heroes and 3 or 4 mechas

as far as mechs go, I don't care about how many there are, but rather how well they're designed, in aspects such as how well they fit the theme, how they combine, and what kind of variety they have.

having grown up on several seasons of power rangers, I had no problem with the many 5+1 teams that typically had a 5-piece robot, a single transforming robot for he 6th ranger that could combine with the main mech, then sometimes a second 5-piece robot

there are also several pr/ss seasons where I had no problem with them having extra mechs because of how each was unique and often creatively designed, and variety came from occasions of mix and match. it's also nice to see times when the extra mechs could combine with each other to create a new robo

Although I would like to agree with MattComix above I think for me personally it would be strange to see a series without the mecha, just because it's been around for so long.

You're right that it would be a little strange. One thing to remember though is that the definition of mecha is a broader term in Japan encompassing many things mechanical. For example the anime BubbleGum Crisis is considered to have mecha yet there is no giant robot. You have monsters in the form of Boomers and the all female hero cast fighting in metal power suits. GoRanger had the Bariburūn which was not a combiner or a humanoid robot but a awesome flying vehicle.

I would personally would love to see a show that returns to something like Goranger or JAKQ, but mix in Voltes V and Dairanger into it.

At first, the rangers , a core three or five, though I want to have three two-man teams to function like Goseiger's rumor dynamic, would be barred by modern technology and what humans can exclusively make, though their suit powers are derived supernaturally or extraterrestrially, with their finalized creation from a government firm trying to understand why the villainous mystical demons/space empire wants to kill and conquer the Earth.

Think of the first ten to fifteen episodes as a homage to the 70s and 80s tokusatsu, where the rangers fight the villains without an inkling to a forthcoming threat, and so they get overconfident. Then around 16 or 17, **** gets real and the empire of demons or space aliens plays their full hand, and so for until 20, the team is dealt extensive defeats to not only themselves, but destruction of buildings and other infrastructure, but global.

The point is to get the people to lose hope and to forsake their heroes, which many fall into this and even the heroes feel this defeatism at work. Said origins of their powers come back and through trials, give them the ability to fight off the threats via their mechas ,special weapons and finally, a combined robot. The sixth one, from one of the three teams, is tempted to evil and defects, functioning like Bio Hunter Silva and Abarekiller together, considering his mixed alien heritage.

Team dynamics go from two man to five very quickly and become like the sentai heroes, resembling the latter series after the 80s , but more like Deka.

So, they get Varablumes and tanks and whatnot in the first episodes, and perhaps an inkling of a manmade mecha that is more like a rugged Battle Fever Robo than a complex thing that can be created by man.

See , I made Sentai interesting again.

You know, "a Super Sentai with just 5 heroes and 3 or 4 mechas" is an accurate description of Go-Busters.
