It's Judgement Time!
Anything annoying you guys at work lately? You don't have to give any details about where you work, just share.
My rant takes some setting up. In one of my jobs, I work in a gift shop, of sorts. We recently hired some new employees to replenish our team which had lost quite a few people.
I had been eagerly awaiting a day when I could be trained on 'other stations' in the gift shop. There are about 4 or 5 other stations in the gift shop as a whole. There's the main gift shop station, the 'island' station (where you are selling products on a cart), and then Station B and Station C (we'll call it for now)
So far, I've been trained on main gift shop and island. I love them both. But as I said, I'm ready to start training on other stations.
Recently, there was a day when we were overstaffed. I mean, there couldnt have been a better day; we weren't going to have many customers, we have so many people that there were two people at Station B and the Island when there is usually only one on each. And yet, because there wasnt going to be a lot of business, there was no need to have them there. Seriously, three people could have held down the entire fort for that evening.
Rightfully, I'm thinking "this is the perfect opportunity to be trained on another station! We have more than enough people, surely!"
I ask my manager. She says "No, I'm training [false name]Liz[/false name] on the island. I'll train you soon, don't worry."
That pissed me off. Not so much that I got denied, but for a more... insensitive reason.
Liz was one of our new employees. She's also pregnant. Meaning she literally cannot perform 90% of the duties required of her by the company and the gift shop. Why the **** did we hire her for gift shop if she cant perform the job? She literally stands for one hour, sits the rest of the four choking down food and drink. I had the pleasure of training her on the Island station once before. Obviously, I didnt understand why I was training her. During the training, not only could she not do any of the duties required of working on the Island station, but she didn't even like doing the job.
So, of course, it annoyed me when I was told by my boss, that they were training her on the Island for a second time and that because of this, I wouldn't be trained. You know, training her a second time at an area where she literally can't perform any of the duties associated with it and doesn't want to be there.
Really? You have two people at Station B and you can't remove one of them to train me there? Fucking ignorant bitches. The management at this particular job of employment fails, hard. Glad to know this company pays people to sit around and eat and do nothing while others bust their ass.
