Why in the hell did Ultraman Nexus fail?

Are you kidding? Ultra Seven was horrific. It was vapid, with a convoluted story and wooden performances.

I enjoyed because it felt like Philip K. Dick meets Ultraman. Did it very well for me.

The movie "Ultraman THE NEXT" the prequel to Nexus was awsome! Then the series failed.

Mind you, ULTRAMAN did pretty poorly at the box office as well. Similar to Nexus, I'd wager it just couldn't find its intended audience.

The two Moebius movies have and are getting a lot of mileage off of nostalgia for the older series. That it's Ultraman at all draws in the kids, that it's the Ultramen others grew up with draws in the parents. The Next didn't have that. It was shooting a more serious take on the series at an audience that didn't really know or care, I guess.

Ultraseven X was a horrid show. It was a slap in the face to the original Ultraseven.

Giant Battle wise I agree. It needed more then .2 seconds of Giant fight per episode. But I did overall enjoy the series itself and the story.

I still don't know why they decided to not have longer fight scenes?... It doesn't make sense to me at all.

I loved the ED theme though.

I haven't seen the entire 1967 Ultra Seven series but several of the fights I have seen are *super-short* and a lot of the episodes focus more on the sci-fi stories than the giant monster battles. Not unlike Ultra Seven X.

I wasn't really impressed with Ultraseven X either. To me it's kinda like what happens when somebody just skims the surface of Nexus and patterns their Ultra series after that. While I don't agree with the usual complaints about Nexus to me at least, are more earned by Ultraseven X.

I know everyone has what they do not like this series and what they like about that series. Now I like Nexus I like anything that has a dark theme to it; however, I do not like Ultraman Seven X to me it seem rush and the acting was not there too me.

Bottom line is that member said Ultraseven was HORRIFIC. Not Ultraseven X.

Nexus will always be one of my favorite ultraman series because it's the first ultraman series that I finished. I also enjoyed ultraseven X very much.

I like the way Ultraseven X wipe everybody's butt in seconds. You know those show when the heroes first show up. They kick everybody's butt, but then later in the series they start getting their butt kicked. Not in ultraseven X, he kicked everybody's butt in like a second all the way to the last episode. I especially like the last fight in the cave against all those spiders, "Finishing move" all the way!

Reminds me of the conversation the 2 main characters(forgot their names) have in that anime "Eagle Talon":

man1: "That's not fair, why does he always use his finisher first?"
man2: "Why does other superheroes always wait until the end to use theirs?"
