an agent of Tsuburaya Chai...OH GOD IT'S CHAIYO!!!!
Whatever at least it's Ultraman in all his suplexing glory.
But now I feel dirty.

Tsuburaya doesn't have as big of a presence in the US as other studios do, so it's not as if they actually know. Though, I'm sure if someone e-mailed Tsuburaya, something about it could be done, they're surprisingly good at replying to e-mails.

Or, maybe Tsuburaya is doing something about it right now. As a policy, they never discuss legal cases until the court makes the final verdict.

After the court victory in Thailand in 2008, I kind of thought it was over, but was very surprised to hear about a court victory in China in 2009 (last year), so I'm guessing sometime this year or next year, Tsuburaya may win the case in the US. (I had originally guessed Tokyo, then the US, but Tsuburaya probably has no reason to take the case back to Tokyo, seeing as they're pretty much winning it anyway. So estimating from those chain of events, the US might be the next course.)

Watch and try to enjoy the series. It's fun as hell and is the introduction to an entire universe of good guys and villians.

You may reconize a few cast members who showed up in other Toku shows (if u saw them).

Sold at Target? Really?

Stroll across those bargain bin Kung-fu movies. 90% of them are bootlegs. A store can sell a bootleg copy of something as long as an official released version hasn't came out.

My copies of the Sonny Chiba street fighter movies are bootlegs and the movie has never had a 'true' release on DVD, but you'll see copies of The Street Fighter all over the place.

My opinion on the entire bootleg Ultraman boxset fiasco: If I can get a copy of a show I really want, ever if through bootleg, I'll get it.

The subs are awful anyway.

Have you ever actually watched the DVDs? Be honest.

I'm pretty sure Tsuburaya has a clue that their bread and butter franchise is being sold in the US.

Yes, perhaps in the initial release of the thing, but I'm talking about these marked down sets. Once the company that was releasing the original sets went under, I can imagine Tsuburaya probably saw it as the end of it and didn't think another company would up and release the overstock.
