Why Do Ranger Fans Like Pro Wrestling?

Pro-wrestling or more specifically the WWE (WWF) has always appealed to me because it's an over-the-top spectacle, full of colorful charactes. With storytelling that is simplistic yet can be epic at the same time. It exists in a parallel universe where no matter what problems you may have, it can always be resolved by kicking the other guy's ass inside the ring. It's uncivilized but appeals to our more barbaric urges that we restrain.

Professional wrestling also has a unique appeal in that it's truly interactive. When you're there live you are part of the show. You cheer the heroes, boo the villains and stars react to what the crowd feels. There's no other show anywhere where after the hero stands triumphant you can feel satisfied in that you played small role in his victorious battle or when the hero has been defeated you share his anguish because it just wasn't enough.. this time.

And yes, pro-wrestling is fake . I never understood why it's detractors would think that even matters to us. Yes, pro-wrestlers are actually just actors and stuntmen, yet so is everyone else on tv. But while pro-wrestling may be scripted or pre-determined it is at the same time more real than any other fictional show you'll find on tv.

These guys risk their bodies everytime they go into that ring, in order to entertain the fans. You can learn how to fall so you don't seriously injure yourself but there's no way to fall on your back twenty times a night without it hurting. Accidents happen, a lot and every night these guys end up with cuts, bruises, scrapes at best. Pulled muscles, teared ligaments or broken bones at worst. Yet no matter how banged up they get, if they can still walk and still see, they'll go right back out there to entertain the crowds the very next night.

Well, when you put it like that, it does seem pretty cool. So, I gotta see a Monday Night "RAW" episode?

Raw is on every MONDAY
Smack Down is on every THURSDAY

No Holidays. No Reruns.

Check Smack Down This thursday at 8pm on UPN.

Smack Down and Raw are different brands (or leagues) so they've got different storylines on both shows with different wrestlers.

Wrestlemania 21 is this sunday aswell. This is the Super Bowl for Wrestling fans. I even booked work off for it.

Nope. The only stuff you pay for is the monthly PAY PER VIEW EVENTS. The Raws and Smack Downs are on regular tv stations dude.

Well RAW is on basic cable, but I think just about everyone with a job has cable in today's world. The PPV's can be a mixed bag. Most are $39.99 I think, except for the "really big ones" like Wrestlmania (March/April), Summerslam(August), and Survivor Series(November) which are $49.99. But I heard that Smackdown might not be on UPN pretty soon. Is that true?

Call me a geek but as a Power Rangers / Tokusatsu fan I've never watched Wrestling for AGES!! Nor do I know much about it. But sometimes I do enjoy watching it. Sometimes it's very funny, especially when the wrestlers swear at each other!!

I used to borrow a WWF game for the Playstation off an old friend of my brother's, and it was really fun!! Especially the Create-a-Wrestler mode!! I think this game was called "WWF Warzone". These Wrestling video games aren't always easy though, they're not like Street Fighter or Tekken where you punch/kick you opponent until his health meter is empty, you have to weaken you opponent enough to pin him down and then win.

Oh, and thanks to Basri for sending me that really funny video clip of that WWE goes Hollywood trailer "ARE YOU TALKING TO ME!!!"

Nice....the "Taxi Driver" parody trailer.

Carlito Cool takes a bite out of the apple
Voice: Um, could you lose the apple?
Carlito spits it out: That's not cool.
