Well, the good news is they don't play it any more. Probably because it's already "yesterday's news". Even when it was on, I think I maybe saw the trailer two or three times. Then again, I don't watch TV That much these days.

Career wise, he still is. Its just that the Twilight fandom (well the parts that like him) catapulted him into the public eye. The same would have happened to any minor pretty boy actor. Like if someone like Henry Cavill was casted instead you'd see him presenting an Oscar and getting hit by a taxi while on the run from a fangirl instead of Pattinson.

Summit Entertainment will film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse from August 17th until October 31st at Vancouver Film Studios. David Slade (30 Days of Night) will direct from a script by Melissa Rosenberg.
