Look I know I'm fighting a losing battle, but let me just say that the books arent as bad as people make them out to be. Sure the series is no Dark Tower, but its not THAT bad.

Didn't we already have a talk about this in the other Twilight thread? I told you I read the first two books as well as Breaking Dawn (solely to see that pregnancy **** and see how it was played out, I laughed and was slightly horrified).

You want a serious discussion? Its in that panel since having read the book I can justly say Breaking Dawn is that **** with a little "lets hitch everyone together" flare. All in all an awful book apart of an awful series of books. You're obviously going into fanboy denial if you say Breaking Dawn is nothing like that. How can you not say that it was fanfiction and fetish material? Its like saying BDSM is a hobby and not a fetish.

The Twilight series sprung up from a dream Stephanie Meyer had. They are horribly written and a total Mary Sue. I've read Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake books and Anne Rice's Vampire Series, and while the first couple books in those series are decent, and then it gets progressively worse with writerwank, the Twilight books start there.

Here's the thing I don't get. Bella is completely subservient to Edward. Her every waking thought is consumed with him, and past a certain point, she ceases to exist without him. That was what I found sickening about the series (even with the last book) The books all but say to girls, "find a man and get him to make your life mean anything".

Harry Potter was decently written all the way through, and the Eragon series started off well before trailing off, so I know young adult books can be better.

But Twilight is tripe.
