Why did Disney wants to take control of Super Sentai?

I wish Disney never own the right to keep Super Sentai, which sucks that they won't air any Sentai series on TV. Makes me sick to my stomach.

That'd be nice if Adness Entertainment buys Super Sentai from Disney.

Relax buddy, just buy the DVDs from Japan.

Speaking of which, I've heard a rumour that Disney even owns the rights to the Sentai series GoRanger to Jetman. Is this true?

You have to understand though. We CAN buy the DVD's from Japan, but that isn't good enough :( we need subs. And I dunno about that rumor, can anyone help us with that?

I'm not all up on Goseiger's info, but, how so?

Goseiger's theme is "angels," which would give Disney whim-whams about "celestial" imagery setting off Christian fundies in the US.

It's also heavily promoting a CCG/arcade game hybrid called Dice-Oh that could never possibly succeed in the US, so Disney would have to deal with footage that heavily pimped a product that Bandai of America wouldn't be releasing.

Awkwaaaaaard....

It is true that Saban purchased rights to everything from Goranger on back during the big PR boom, to try and keep competitors from buying footage to super-old shows. It is also true, IIRC that the rights were transferred to Disney after they bought out Saban.

That would be so~ funny.

And about the rights, that sucks :( Well then, let me ask this. Since Disney seems that they are not continuing making new stuff after RPM, and Mighty Morphin' will make everyone nostalgia, but may not succeed overall. When will Disney's hold on the rights be over?

NEVER! Disney will never sell the rights.

But...but...:disappoin Isn't there a specific time when the rights go back up in the air, and they have to decide if they're picking it up or not? And if it's failing, they throw it out the window?

If Disney wants to control the SS franchise for use in the US, first things first- THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER USED THE PR BRAND FROM DAY 1.

In short let it be called "Whirlwind Squadron Hurrcanger" or something, do an English version of the OP, retain plot, and have US character counterparts of the Japanese originals.

the 2nd option is if Disney can join forces w/ Toei for an original US-made sentai w/ original designs (that Toei will approve), more suitable for western audiences, for all ages.

I bet the 2nd option would be better if they want to get involved more. but then again, BoJ was the heavy influencer in Toei's works...

a company buying stuff from disney? almost impossible

Of course, it's impossible because... well... it's Disney. The company is too rich.

Yeah, it does sound impossible, but I got a feeling that Disney will never get their hands on any of the post-Shinkenger sentais in the next few years. Eventually, they would be forced to sell all rights to another company. Hoping that it's not 4-Kids.
