I dont think Maguire is a bad actor, but he is NOT peter parker. I mean, I grew up reading spiderman comics! Peter Parker is a very smart guy, and when he's spiderman, hes mischievous and scoffer. but Maguire's not like that, his face looks like he's a confused child, like stupid. i dont blame maguire, but the people responsable for the casting.

Yes because Spider-Man always has to be the same guy in all forms of media :eyebrow: You're not the only one that grew up with The Amazing Spider-Man. Well the Spider-Man comics in recent years and even in the 90s and late 80s match Tobey Maguire's acting if you want to use that comparison. Even the TAS Spidey matches Maguire's Spidey. That's where the basis came from for his character for the first film. And Spider-Man is supposed to be confused as a character, thats his dramatic tension, he has to juggle all of his responsibilities in life and hes never sure if hes doing the right thing with his choices and priorities.
And who says Maguire's Parker is not intelligent while his Spidey is fun loving and wisecracking? Albeit his Spidey isn't as "into it" as other incarnations. Post something to back up your claim that he's not.
Also a little side note its true that many that dislike Maguire's Spidey put him down and the casting solely because of Spider-Man 3's deliverance.
