Can anyone explain how meek, screechy Mei is being included in people's lists? How can someone seriously type "Mei" and "bad-ass" in the same sentence without having their fingers laugh their asses off?

Episodes 26 and 27 are the big premier displays of Mei's badassery from what I recall, and I know they weren't the only ones.

I think there was that one episode...27, maybe? Where she takes out a monster almost entirely on her own, but other than that, she's very samey comparing her to some of more bland Sentai heroines.

Did they even have a rivalry? I remember one single episode where they fought, and it seemed to go nowhere.

I think Mei, the character, had a couple of supposed "badass" moments, but the actress wasn't very convincing at it, so as a whole she pales compared to other girls. Although for todays' standards, i can see why people think she was a badass.

They fought a couple of times after Lami's introduction. But the main highlight is the cosplay episode. That was loads of fun.

That's the reason why I like Mei. She doesn't look like a badass, she doesn't sound like a badass but overall, she is a badass. A badass princess to be exact, and it's kinda rare in this time of age to have that kind of character... well Ahim is the closest we have for one.

Yeah, and Ahim couldn't even beat an enemy on her own in her melodramatic backstory focus episode. Mei does it several times throughout Zyuranger, simply as a matter of course. Mei's watered-down compared to earlier Pinks of a similar ilk (say, Dyna Pink), but next to a character like Ahim, she probably comes off like Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
