Yeah, i've heard the goranger reference here. Summer asked the question. It's like the writers are saying "hey, sentai fans, here's some references only you'll get! Please come back to us!"
And not even casual Sentai fans, Sentai fans who've looked into the history of the franchise way back; a pretty small crowd to reach to, which makes the effort all the more noteworthy.
I really loved this episode. Dillon's line about "You guys are the answer. I'm just looking for the question" was cheesy, but forgivable inside an episode packed with tight writing.
Taken together, the whole arc from Brother's Keeper to Ghosts slowly builds up from just ok to pretty awesome. That's another amazing feat for a writer to pull off.
Once again I am in agreement with your assessment, and personally I prefer stuff to be telegraphed over no foreshadowing at all, since that means that the writers do have a plan.
I was going to complain that they did jack all at the factory, especially considering how many human workers were kept there. But immediately after the giant fight, Dillon and Summer start talking about going back.
Secondary question: The twinspeak was evident between Gem and Gemma even in Alphabet Soup. Did their desire for big explosions come before, or after they were imprisoned?
Its hard to say about the twins; certainly their time at Alphabet Soup and out alone in the Venjix infested wastelands did no favors for their psyches at all.
Also, anyone who does not recognize what a good map they made will be subject to boom time.
