What's Your Favorite Sentai and Why?

Right now, mine is Hurricanger.

I find the Goraijer cool and the bad guy cast quite dynamic.

I've seen better, but until they're subtitled and I can watch 'em all in the comfort of my own living room.... right now my fave'll have to Hurricanger.

What's yours?

hard to tell ... I like a lot of them, mainly the classics ... hmm, tough call, but I'll go with Maskman and Turboranger though I only watched both series for only a couple of episodes ...

I've noticed that I tend to favor whatever series I happen to be watching at the moment. Despite it's more comical aspects, I'm really feelin' Magiranger right now. Hurricanger was my first Sentai series with Abaranger and Dekaranger following and I've greatly enjoyed each series. If I had to choose the one I'm feelin' the most then I'm gonna have to go with Dekaranger.

Despite the majority of fans hating Deka's episodic nature and lack of a strong ongoing arc, that's one of the things I enjoyed about it. Each episode was like a different case that needed to be solved and it was intersting to see the contrast in the different Alienizers that the Deka team faced. This series was more serious than Abaranger although, of course, it had it's moments silliness. The Vino episode and Hard Boiled License are example of the episodes I like the most. Requiem World and Propose Panic are also standout eps to me along with a few others. So yeah... I'd go with Dekaranger.

Sentai huh... Hmmm. I havent seen a lot. I wish I have. I guess it's between Hurricanger and Dekaranger. On one hand I really loved the designs of Hurricanger. The villains, the robos, the suits. They all looked so kewl and bad ass. I loved it. The music was great and the episode plots were funny and serious when needed. The Robo battles really lacked though. I wish they were better.

Dekaranger has good music and alright designs. They are average suit and robo designs. The monster designs are also on the "hm" side. But the episode stories, the character plots, and the exciting battles are what make it so fun to watch. The robo and ranger battles are awesome and you just start cheering with DekarangerAction and SWATON start playing. Or when the theme song plays and Rangers get the work. It's a really great feeling and makes you care.

The stories and plots of Dekaranger were solid and just really got to you.

So it's tough for me to decide. I guess it would be a tie.

That's right... *slaps forhead* I forgot to mention how much the music plays a role in my enjoyment of Sentai. Especially for Dekaranger. Thanks GPG. The BGM that plays during certain scenes really make me feel it even more.

what favorite sentai and why

my favorite sentai is denjiman and denjiman 's 1 st episode on my birthday is 2/2/80 and i like ic the denjidog and daidenjin [great electronic god] and denjiisland and denjiprincess and denjiisland computer and denjiman 's story so great

I like Maskman and Bioman because I grew up with them.

Now my current faves are Dairanger and Raibuman.

1985's Dengeki Sentai Changeman. I think this show is 55 episodes of sentai perfection. The cast of heroes are great actors and believable as heroes (one of the only sentai teams that I can visualize as being in the suit), formidable villains, great action, beautiful BGM, amazing Yutaka Izubuchi and cool tunes. The five heroes actually have separate personalities, something unheard of in the current shows.

Unlike a number of shows, you can tell that main writer Hirohisa Soda actually had Changeman's plot well mapped out when you hit the end of the series (something he also achieved with his Bioman and Flashman shows).

The actors never looked down at the show, either. A few of the main actors were stage actors, so they treated the show respectfully, putting care into their performances, something a bit rare in this day and age.

And damn it, I'm taking this as an opportunity to put up my collage celebrating Changeman's 20th anniversary! Changeman deserves respect, damn it!

I don't really have a favorite...but you could say that I favor Jetman more than any others (especially the finale, that was just sad. Instead of going to get help, Gai went to Ryu's wedding after getting stabbed...sad...just sad.)

Oh yeah, Denjiman was cool (I haven't seen it all, but I saw some random episodes and the third to last episode.)

I have a whole lot of other favorites from the past (Bioman, Maskman, Changeman, Flashman, Dairanger, etc...) and from the present (GoGoV, Abaranger, Dekaranger, Magiranger)

Sad, but...don't you think it was a little stupid on the writer's part? Gai was the only Jetman member anyone liked! He grew and changed by the show's end and then they sort of throw it all away by having Gai go to the wedding instead of getting help. It makes him look like an idiot and/or an asshole, that Ryu and Kaori's wedding day will have the black cloud of Gai's death hanging over it, rather than "Oh, Gai couldn't be at the wedding because he was saving his life, we're selfish to whine about his absence, but at least he's alive, the kids will love him!"

The Jetman finale is really what keeps Jetman from being out of my top five list of favorite sentai. I do think Toshihide Wakamatsu plays that last scene really well, which shows his power as an actor, because how could you be satisfied with that ending, as an actor?
