Damn, I'm really that popular aint I?
Yup. In the Philippines, Michael Joe is second only to Kotaro Minami of Kamen Rider Black (or ROBERT AKIZUKI!!!) in popularity. I guess that's reason to be happy

But I'm really like Dekaranger. Like Grimm, I pefer the episodic cases that are presented in the show.

If you like episodic cases such as Dekaranger, you should try out Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain or any other Rescue Hero Series. It's more of a case file than continuity.

Hikari Sentai Maskman is my favorite sentai. Although it doesn't have the deepest story (Jetman and Timeranger come to mind)

I've always thought that Jetman ripped heavily off of Maskman -- or at least was "inspired" by it, the Takeru/Mio & Ryu/Rie stuff. I think Maskman did the love story/she's with the villains stuff better and Kiros having a rivalry with Takeru because he loved Mio was deeper, to say the least, than Grey falling in love with Maria/Rie.

As much as I like Jetman, something always left me cold about the love stuff when it came to Ryu. He seemed like a dolt in how he handled the Maria situation and he just willingly caves in for Kaori, despite not showing any interest in her throughout the series, after repeatedly saying he thinks nothing more of her than a teammate...and the show ends with their marriage? Huh? It always gave me the impression that the writer was trying to end with the miserable message that the rich can obtain whatever they want -- they can even buy people, in this case, Kaori bought Ryu...it's a pretty one-sided relationship. I refuse to believe her little speech in that shack in the next to last episode suddenly opened his eyes -- if you're not into her by episode 50, you're not into her!

Timeranger, really, that show's not a sentai. It's a whine-fest, bishonen teen melodrama... When you can edit out the stuff that resembles a tokusatsu and have the same damn show, it's not a tokusatsu. See Hibiki.

Come to think of it, Timeranger is more of a teledrama. Well, that just reinforces my resolve for Maskman. About Jetman, Ryu was very stoic. Gai was a better lover for Kaori. I think Kaori was playing it safe. Too bad Gai had to die, he was the coolest black ranger ever. But I think also that Gai's death enhances the dark theme of Jetman. Gai's death shows the humanity of the Jetmen. They are also normal people who could die. I think this show of "normality" in Jetman draws many fans of Sentai.

Just because I can't narrow it down to just one...

Dairanger--the last sentai with any real martial arts depth to it.

I've only seen what TV Nihon has put out but damn! I LOVE the martial arts of DaiRanger. You can tell it's heavily based on straight up kungfu/wushu. All the styles are the same, so are weapons. So I love that aspect. The posts have got to be some of the hardest poses to do.

Also the Staff is my FAVORITE weapon in Martial Arts. Favorite. I spaz when they bust out their staffs and go to town on the monster. But the staff action kicks ass. I wish they would use them more.

I like the theme song of Dairanger too. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!

The more I hear of this... "Mask...man..." the more I want to see it. Before I was dying to see Jetman, but lately the oldie hype has been on Maskman these days.

Wouldn't mind seeing the first Sixth Ranger in action either.

I really wish there'd be more of that oldie stuff subbed. I got DaiRanger and watching it raw gives me a headache. I'm sure with a little more work and elbow grease I'd be able to watch it just prime, but these days... I just can't find that kinda time. :disappoin
