What's Gainaix Cooking?

Nope, not yet.... I'll give it a spin.

But... this is what's next?

Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, it's a retelling that tweaks the story here and there, so there are some new mecha and some parts of the plot happen a little differently. Par for the course with mecha show movies.

Something to remember is that GAINAX maintains multiple internal teams who generally are working on different things. Usually they alternate between loud actiony shows and stuff in different genres, like shoujo or comedy. Following G-L with Hanamaru Kindergarden is par for the course. GAINAX refused to become a factory cranking out endless sequels and clones back in the day with Evangelion, so they'd treat G-L no differently.

I believe Gurren Lagann was in production for at least two years, the earliest promo art released for it is quite old. So even IF GAINAX goes back to mecha we wouldn't see it for awhile. I wouldn't expect anything else like Gurren-Lagann for about five years, personally. I mean... G-L was the first GAINAX mecha project since Diebuster, and before that they hadn't done mecha since Evangelion, and before that they hadn't done mecha since Gunbuster.

GAINAX is working on an interesting retelling of Evangelion right now that does feature work by some G-L team members, but I believe the whole point of that is do something as little like Gurren-Lagann as possible.

Yes! But with some new BASASS footage in between especially Movie 2 (Lagann-hen)!!!! If you thought the final battle in the tv series was epic, wait until you see what they got in the movie!! :buttrock:
