What's Gainaix Cooking?

Gainax still needs to do something to capture my interest. My friends love Gurren, but from the moment I saw it...I knew it wasn't gonna make it.

I wonder if Gunbuster is decent?

How much of Gurren did you watch and why didn't it grab you? Gunbuster and its sequel are pretty fucking incredible... but might do nothing for you if you don't like their style.

Actually I believe that Gainax has really nothing to do with Rebuild of Evangelion, Anno's new studio is doing the actual production. But Hanamaru Kindergarten is great, it may be the best show this season probably even the last couple. It is just a funny show without needless melodrama. Plus it has Panda-Cat!

The original Gunbuster is one of the most amazing anime I have ever seen.

I admire G-L in a lot of regards but can sympathize with not being huge on it. For me, the lousy female characters kept me from feeling any deep passion for G-L. It is just baffling that guys working at the studio that created groundbreaking female characters like Misato and Noriko honestly thought that Yoko and Nia were acceptable female leads.

That said, I have a lot of respect for the G-L team's originality and commitment to storytelling. We could use more of that. I also enjoyed all of the in-jokes and homages the G-L team worked into the show without turning it into a pure rehash.

Blue Saint: GAINAX is bankrolling the remake, but Anno's studio is using a fair number of GAINAX people. So it's all good. Anno's studio being in control mainly means that he gets final approval over the creative end, which is as it should be.

Isn't Misato like, one of the most broken characters in NGE? (I recognize this is somewhat like saying one of the nerdiest guys in a room full of anime fans, but still.) Like, the source material has her appear stable--but there's a novel or something that makes her just as screwed as everyone else?

Keith: Part of it is simple fan backlash. Nobody would shut up about it, so it bugged me. (Working hard to save Goseiger from this fate.) Add to that, I wasn't really a fan of the designs of the characters, nevermind the mecha, and I didn't even enjoy the ending that much.

Well, GAINAX peed me off for not continuing with Blazing Transfer Student after only TWO OVA episodes! I wanted to know what happened next! To make things worse, they showed future spoiler characters in the opening! Plus, they don't seem to include the anime as part of their official works, as if they're ashamed of it, which they better not be! And the manga is so hard to find and I'm not even sure if it's still being translated! Aaaaaaaaaah! Noboru! I know that you want to carry on with your adventure, but I'm sorry, I can't do anything about it! It's GAINAX's fault! Onore GAINAX! I know, let's both do the Takizawa Kick on them!

TAKIZAWA KIIIIIIIIIIKKU!

But seriously guys, I really enjoyed this awesome anime! Anyone else who has watched it will understand the pain that I'm going through! If none of you guys have watched it, especially you Keith, then you should! This anime is really awesome and good old school fun! It even has Tomokazu Seki voicing Noboru Takizawa! So if you don't mind that it's from 1991, then watch this masterpiece by GAINAX!:D
