Famed director Lilly Wachowski, 50% of the team that created the Matrix movies, has announced her next project…which is pretty far from something as mainstream as The Matrix. In fact you’ll likely only hear about it from websites like this one. The title is Cassie Workman is Witchy AF, and it’s described as “a new comedic documentary series.” Is it an actual documentary, or a fake one? That is something we can’t tell. Everything that describes it is right on the edge, and it could go either way. The show is set in a fictional occult bookstore owned by the show’s creator and host, Cassie Workman. Workman is a real person; she’s an Australian comedian, writer, musician and actor. But the press release states she’s playing a fictional version of herself, and since the shop’s not real either, and it’s billed as a comedy, that means this is a fake mockumentary thing, right? Well. Cassie Workman is Witchy AF will “explore the history and philosophy of occultism and magic,” and cover such topics as “Aleister Crowley, John Dee, the secret history of Hollywood, and Santa Muert,” which were actual things…so is it a documentary after all? To be honest, I'm going toward 'brilliantly ambiguous.' I like that Wachowski is branching out from the Matrix into something so different. What's the deal with a fake occult bookstore and a puppet co-host? It sounds like a thrilling ride. I'm hoping it's more like 'What We Do In The Shadows' than a dry history lesson. The fact that they're combining real occult characters with clearly fictitious components has me intrigued. I'm willing to be entertained and perhaps even learn a little bit about the occult, as long as it's done with a lot of humor. I believe this is going to be a surprise hit.

Wait a minute... wasn't the Matrix created by the Wachowski brothers? I'm sure I remember them being introduced that way. This whole 'Lilly Wachowski' thing is throwing me off. I'm a bit confused, I need to look this up.

You're remembering correctly. They were known as brothers originally. However, both have since transitioned and are now known as Lana and Lilly Wachowski. That's why you're seeing Lilly's name credited now. They've changed their names and pronouns to reflect their gender identity

I'm intrigued. I love the idea of mixing real occult history with a comedic mockumentary format. It sounds like a really clever way to explore some interesting topics. I'm especially interested to see how they handle the puppet co-host. It could be really funny or really annoying. I'm hoping for funny. I think this show is going to be a cult classic.

I'm excited! I love how Wachowski is always pushing boundaries. This sounds like it could be really unique. The mix of real and fake is what has me interested. I'm a big fan of mockumentaries, and if this is done well, it could be amazing. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this project. I want to know where I can watch it. I think it will be on a streaming service, but I am not sure
