What helps unfreeze car locks?

Faded.Memories

Im not straight but my boyfriend is
OKAY. So this morning my roomate went down ten minutes before we had to leave to go to college (to be AT the college ten minutes early) giving us AMPLE time to get to school early.

Only the locks were frozen over. She tried to get them unlocked for like...ten minutes...before calling me down there (I had been checking email while she was going to scrape off the windows of ice.) and then I tried to unlock it. THEN I tried to use hot water and a syringe to shoot hot water into the lock, heat up the key and insert it, EVERYTHING.

Still nothing.

So with ten minutes until class (And a Psych test might I add), I called my friend to see if she would come pick me up so I wouldn't miss it. Unfortunately she was afraid of being late for the test, as our professor has told us that if we are late he will lock the door and not let us in.

SO. Here I am at home. Missing the psych test. I called the professors line and left a phone message, AND emailed him, AND called switchboard to see if there was anyone else I could get ahold of...but he's the only one I can talk to.

I'm hoping there will be something I can do to make up for this test...because this, although not a life threatening excuse or anything, is something I can't help.

Anyways, does anyone know of any way to unfreeze locks, or to keep them unfrozen? My roomate heard WD40 prevents it, but we haven't got any. If it warms up later and we can get into the car, we'll be going to get some to try it.

Get an electric lock system? :p

Well, it's my roomates car, and she looked into having an automatic start and stuff...but her car isn't compatible with it.

Boiling water... s'what I used once.

Yeah that's what I was injecting into the lock using a syringe...but it didn't work.

I'm just curious, how cold is there? Temperature, i mean.

it was -4 degrees celcius earlier when we were trying to get in. Now it's sitting at -3 degrees celsius.

-4?! That's it?! Where are you? Hamilton?

How come the car lock froze at only -4?!

It's -10 here and its snowing :D.

Hot Water or Anti-Freeze.

The wheather kicked our asses here. Luckily I got a snow blower so I don't need to break my back shovelling all of this ****.
