Western Influence on Sentai?

I just wanna come up and say that, has anyone noticed westerns influence on sentai? and when I say Western influence, I say Power Rangers!! Is there even such a thing or am I just over thinking things? I mean, I've finished watching Go-ongers last year now, and I can't help but wonder how much influence power rangers had to the Go-onger series. I mean considering how awful it was to some of you. It's been bugging me ever since Shinkengers 1st episode and shinkenred's introduction, and now since Power rangers ain't continuing, Shinkenger shows up, and I see nothing but rich japanese culture on this, despite the fact that its a japanese show. From Samurai themed sentai & the japanese flag showing right in the back of there mechs after an attack, to lyrics from there opening saying "Nihon no Supiritsu mezame Yuku"(The Spirits of Japan are awakening), and now we see Goseiger's suit design and how reminiscent it is to it's classic sentai. I know I may be over thinking this but has anyone ever noticed stuff like this?...

...It maybe just me though hehe

I never felt that way. Toei just produces what it wants to produce and PR had to take what it got. RPM had to deal with goofy zords regardless of its storyline. The whole Kanji deal appeared in Hurricanger and Ohranger and passed off fine in Ninja Storm and Zeo. They didn't go full- Japanese just because PR was over.

PR obviously brought the SPD battlizer and "zord" in Timeranger. Still SS does derive some influence from other countries and uses it with each season. Shinkenger came from the Samurai aspect, Gekiranger with Chinese martial arts, Boukenger with various legends outside Japan.

That and maybe 2 girls on a team being more common now than before PR.

Never felt that way either till it crossed my mind when shinkenger started. Nevertheless, you do bring a good point, one that I should've seen hehe :D

You could argue that PR has been influencing Sentai ever since it was certain that Saban's adaptation was here to stay. Hence we see the lack of villain actors, the toning down of the action (especially this decade) in favor of CGI, stuffed animals or some other stupid thing acting as mentors, etc.

That sounds more like how Toei developed on its own over the years, with Japan's own censorship, ratings and toy sales dictating how the series came to its current point. Again, Toei is the leader, Disney/Saban just followed what they did.

Disney began to want increased input in what Toei did with Sentai starting from 2002, or so that's what's been floating around for a few years. The two companies finally parted ways, hence no more PR.

And thank god because what Disney did to the PR adaptations of Geki and Boukenger is horrible.

if that's true then that would explain a whole lot!!

But you can still see the influence PR has had on Sentai nonetheless, as the examples I offered demonstrate. I think what went on is that Disney asked Toei to do this and that to make the show "suitable" for adaption and then changed a bunch of stuff anyway. (For example, Kruger and the Kensei. Maybe the usage of Smokey was so that Disney had to use his footage for MF.) And as you can imagine, that did not sit well with someone (who probably still retains a shred of pride in the company's legacy) at Toei.
