I watches SSSS as a kid, I remember really liking it. Of course, I liked a lot of things as a kid that I don't like today. Although I do remember that the main villain was pretty cool.
Were Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad, Captain Power any good?

Hated Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. It was totally rushed and slapped together very quickly (as was the merchandise; I mean, the Gridman figure lacked the sound FX mechanisms!) to muscle in on the Power Rangers craze. Me thinks DiC was fiercely jealous of Saban (as they used to work with each other).
One good thing about SSSS; They at least kept the sound FX track from the original Gridman footage! As opposed to doing completely American substandard sound FX, like in MMPR.
I remember when magazines (such as the late, lamented Hero Illustrated) said that Tatooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills was supposed to be done from a Japanese series, when the opposite turned out to be true. I'm guessing DiC wanted to use Super Ultra Legend: Andromelos, seeing as it has four heroes and was filmed on video, but Tsuburaya wouldn't allow it, because it was an Ultra Series (meaning they never allowed Americanizing an Ultra Series; it had to be dubbed or else!). So DiC just made cheap costumes at the last minute, as well as borrow Halloween costumes!

Syber-Squad- From what I've seen, no not good at all.
Teenage Alien fighters: I have never seen but head bad things about it.

Syber-Squad definitely falls into the "so bad it's good" category.
Kilokahn's still in my personal Top 20 best villains ever list, though.

The first three seasons of MMPR, Superhuman Samurai, Dragon Knight, and VR Troopers are on the same level of cheese
None is better than the other and they're all perfectly watchable
