No Fear, No Pain.
The Cosmic Lords: Beings created long ago to uphold the balance between order and chaos in the multiverse.
The Writhing Things: Ancient creatures born from the primordial chaos who exist in the dark corners of reality.
These two forces have had an on and off again conflict for centuries with the Cosmic Lords defeating and sealing the morally ignorant Writhing Things time and time again. On one world, however, where many such beings are sealed there are humans who have learned to tap into the unnatural power of the slumbering beasts. These foolish men and women are willing to risk their sanity, and perhaps their humanity for greater power. In response to this, the Cosmic Lords have chosen champions to rise up against the threats. Given titles used by heroes from other worlds, these few must face terrible foes in order to protect their world from destruction and madness.
Some will become the warriors of Justice: Kamen Rider
Some will become the warriors of Love: Pretty Cure
Some will become the warriors of Friendship: Super Sentai
But whatever title they receive, they will all be the best chance for their world’s survival.
They will be Vanguards of Hope in a world that shall soon be threatened by Endless Despair.
In the city of Cold March, Maine, a number of unusual and disturbing events have begun to occur. No one could know what threats were hidden in the shadows of the dark city. At least no one but those chosen to shine light into those shadows. Heroes visited by one of the Cosmic Lords and granted power to defend the innocent and defeat the wicked. Drawn to the isolated land by forces they may not yet understand, a bizzare destiny awaits them. Perhaps you are one such hero…

A simple premise, but one I think will produce a lot of fun for those willing to give it a whirl. So where to start…I guess rules and stuff?
1: No God Moding. An HJU Tradition.
2: No Sex. Romance is allowed…but don’t take things too far. This is a public forum ya know.
3: Don’t start ****, and there won’t be ****. In other words treat each other with respect.
4: Posts should be a decent length and include emotional states of the characters, and enough information for the next person to write up a meaningful post. One liners are forbidden! (Joke one liners in a long post are allowed…you very well know what I mean…)
5: No controlling other people’s characters or NPCs without first getting permission. For NPCs ask me. For other player’s characters you should talk to them.
6: Work together…plan out posts if you feel like you should, and don’t make any huge changes to the RP world without running it through me and your fellow players first.
7: Don’t stress, the rules aren’t as strict as they sound and I am very open minded to new ideas and concepts. Don’t worry about giving out every detail of every post, but if you think your post might change the game big time, then at least let me know via PM.
8: Bios should be made to impress me; both to show your skills as an RPer and a character creator. Wow me.
9: Everyone gets at least three character slots. That means you can play as up to three characters, but only if you feel like you can handle it.
10: Have fun. In other words if things feel too stressful then you are in the wrong RP. These things are supposed to be fun, don’t forget that.
Okay hard part is copied and pasted out of the way. Now then here is the skinny. Your character should be an original character but he or she can use the powers of a past or current Rider, Ranger, or Cure. That being said you can always use your own original concept adapted from just about any series. While I would prefer the use of more magic based characters like Kamen Rider Wizard, Magiranger, all the cures, I am not against science based characters as long as they have a good back story. They don’t even have to be the chosen heroes, but rather members of a group or organization creating weapons to fight the various, supernatural threats. I’m sure most of you have done enough RPs and watched enough shows to get an idea of what I mean.
Now then here is a little fun bit for you all to think about. With Cures and Sentai you have the option to go the Rider route and have multiple forms. What do I mean by this? Say you choose to play a Shinkenger with Shinken Red as your main form. By using the Shuto Phone you can shift to any of the other Shinkengers to utilize those forms various weapons, abilities, and elements. In this version the Super Shinkenger forms would be mid season power ups, while Shinken Gold could be your final form, or your secondary “rider”. In this way no single Pretty Cure or Sentai Ranger would be disadvantaged against more broad characters like Kuuga or Wizard. That being said this is just an option and you can always just stick to a single power set if you wish.
Next there is the matter of Mecha which are often a Sentai stable. While I am open to the use of Mecha eventually, it would be something that the ranger would have to earn and would only be used sparingly in certain situations. We can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Finally we have Fairy’s which are a Precure stable. Not much would need to be changed about these cute little guys except maybe their origins. In a game like this though where the Multiverse is a known subject it should be that big of a hurtle to overcome.
I think that is everything, at least for now. So here is the template for your characters. Bios should be a decent length and cover why your character is the way he or she is. Have fun and take your time building a remember able character that you would want to play. Have fun guys and feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. I'll also be adding more info later on what sorts of enemies you will be facing. Suffice to say for now that anyone could be a kaijin: be it a mad man who has let himself become a monster, or a dear friend who has made a terriable mistake.

Okay here is some more info on the sort of Kaijin you guys will be dealing with.
[hide]
Most villains in this game are people who have lost their way, been through tragedy, live in desperation, or just want revenge and power. Some are just normal people who, while in a certain emotional state, roused the power of one of the sleeping monsters. Others deliberately attempt to tap into the power of these creatures through forms of sorcery or rituals, often leading to disastrous results. Finally there are some who are approached by servants of the sleeping creatures. Cultists who promise power or rewards for those that serve the creatures they foolishly think gods. Note that the Writhing Things themselves can be either animalistic, or morally ignorant, so often these cultists are simply zealots, madmen, or occasionally manipulators seeking power, wealth, or worse. Here are a few examples of what you can expect to deal with for the most part. Most of these beings are refered to as Fiends, but the Writhing Things are their own catagory of "HOLY CRAP!!!!"
Transfigured: People who go through a metamorphosis into inhumanoids. This often begins with the manifesting of powers such as telekinesis, enhanced physical abilities, etc. As they use these powers more and more and rely on them they may eventually begin to change into a kaijin of some sort. These people can often be saved by having the power that is being feed into them cut off, in essence purifying them. Once purified it is very rare fore them to ever be able to tap into the power that changed them again. Repairing their minds is a different story, however.
Manifestations: These sometimes appear when a person’s mental state takes a huge turn, for better or worse, and first appear as ghosts or phantoms. They eventually begin to gained physical form and may sometime look like the person from whence they were “born” while other times they may be inhuman, or take the form of what a person fears or desires. These beings may seek to help their parent, take their place, or just want to kill, or devour them. Multiple manifestations can be born from a single person as well, but such beings are usually only born at one point, so it is very rare for a “parent” to ever create more in their life time.
Summoned: These beings are often pieces of a sleeping Writhing Thing summoned by a sorcerer or cultist. These pieces are then given form in one way or another and are let loose to cause mayhem, or are controlled by the conjurer. These are the most dangerous monsters that can appear as they are often large and rarely have to stay in a single shape for long. Fortunately they are in no way intelligent as they are almost the equivalent of a lizard’s tail after it has been cut off. This also means their life is extremely short unless they are feed a constant supply of life force or feed profusely on living victims. That being said, even when a victim is absorbed there is still time to save them before they are drained dry of all life.
Shrouded: Only rivaled by the Summoned in strength, the Shrouded are humans who “wear their power”. In essence they are similar to transfigured, but instead of a Writhing Thing’s power altering them, they alter its power into a form more suited to their needs or desires. This can be accidental, instinctive, or even deliberate depending on the individual. Because of this fact, shrouded are often like the Vanguards in form and abilities. In essence they are the “other side of the coin” and may be allies, or enemies. However they are not beyond corruption and some may slip or loose themselves to the point that their power devours them, turning them into extremely dangerous kaijin. At this point they can be purified or even regain control of their power, but if too much time passes their chances of becoming human again, or surviving the ordeal at all, become very slim. Shrouded can have high levels of control to the point where they are immune from such transformations, but more often then not users of this power live on a very fine edge.
The Writhing Things: Massive in size and power, these beings are little more then instinct driven beasts that understand as much about humans as dogs or cats do. They understand what pleases people and, while in their dreaming states, may react to such thoughts and desires in various ways. Because of their limited understanding, however, such attempts often lead to tragedy. Because of their simple natures, there are those foolish enough to try and control them or harness their power through various psionic, scientific, or even magical/alchemic means. Stirring these creatures, even if by accident, is extraordinarily dangerous as even the slightest movments of these beasts can cause massive earth quakes and major shifts in the environment. Should one ever fully awaken and rise form its prison, then its vast size alone would be enough to cover a city as big as Tokyo in total darkness. Should they all awaken…the entire world would be surely ripped asunder and its fragments sent hurtling into space. [/hide]

More information on the Writhing Things. This is an incomplete list so...more strange and massivly powerful things to come kids.
[hide]
Here is a short list of “known” Writhing Things, and some of their avatars. Note that many of the records from whence these descriptions and names are taken were created by humans. It is more then possible that these are simple the recorders’ own opinions, theories, or desires of what the Writhing Things are. It is even possible that these forms, names, avatars, etc, are adopted by the cosmic beasts due to human influence, or the Things reflecting human’s desires, or fears back at them. One scholar described them as being “mirrors that reflect the darker aspects of the humanity.”
This is an incomplete list and will have further additions over time. This is NOT common knowledge to your characters, though some may know more then others depending on story. Character information versus player information and all the jazz.
----------------------------------
Thull, the Sightless: Thull is said to take the form of a massive wall of flesh with thousands of blind eyes jutting about as if searching for something, though they cannot see it. He does not speak to those who summon him, but his blind eyes will turn in the direction of those that call to him. Regardless of what they ask for, they gain a unique ability in exchange for their sight and become what many call Blind Monks. In exchange for their ability to see, such individuals gain a new “sight” that allows them to perceive what others cannot. This includes people’s emotions, desires, fears, and true personas. As they invoke this ability more and more often, they eventually learn how to reach into certain individuals and “pull out” one of these aspects to create a manifestation. This leaves the victim in a somewhat broken or incomplete state, which can either seem good or bad depending on circumstances. The manifestation may serve its blind master, or seek to do what its parent would not. It may even target its master for abandoning it like a lost child to a forgetful parent. Blind Monks do not have a set order or cult, nor do they keep written texts or use spells to complete their tasks. Instead they often spread their knowledge of Thull via word of mouth, and take on apprentices to whom they pass on their skills. Even so there are a surprising number of Blind Monks around the world who are always searching for worthy students. Whether they see themselves as saviors of men, or power seeking lunatics is different from individual to individual.
-------------------------------
The Pack of Dunamas: No one knows who or what Dunamas is, but his pack of phantom hounds sometimes appear to those who find themselves lost in forests at night. The spectral creatures are canine in shape, but appear differently from person to person, and are unlike any known species even then. The hounds eventually corner their prey, humming the word Dunamas as they approach. Should the sun rise before they reach their intended victim, then the hounds will simply vanish as if they were never there. Those that don’t make it to sunrise are said to be attacked and transformed into one of several different canine like monsters. It is said that they are lead by the only man to ever defeat them in a hunt, who rules the pack and the beasts they sire. Strangely, legend has it, this man is not Dunamas, but a human bearing his own, unique power. Regardless, the story of the phantom pack and the monsters that follow them are often accompanies buy a stern warning: Stay out of the forest at night.
----------------------------------
Lady Thilla: A female entity that some times appears before crying, young women and offers them comfort. She appears to be in her late teens and never says a word, but will gently pet those in sorrow until they begin to feel better. Should they explain why they are upset, the strange woman will sometimes wave a hand over their chest causing a flower to appear. She then places a small jewel into the flower which closes up around it before vanishing again. Thilla kisses the young woman on the brow and then vanishes. At first nothing happens, but eventually the girl begins to gain strange powers akin to magic. These abilities are small and will eventually fade away as the girl gets older, since she will no longer need them as an adult. Sometimes, however, a few of these young girls will refuse to let go of their powers and may even start to abuse them. If this occurs, the girl may eventually start effecting objects around her, causing them to become strange creatures bent on fulfilling her will and protecting her interests. If things don’t approve she may even transform into a less human entity. It is still possible to save this young woman before she slips too far from her humanity, but even then there is the chance of another, even more dangerous creature being born if she isn’t purified correctly. While Lady Thilla may see herself as helping sad young woman through a difficult time, she also creates the risk of harming them, or worse.
--------------------------------------
Lotaciphemnon: A darting, formless, mass of shadow that seems to exist on the 2d plan. It moves at such speed that it is often only seen by people through their peripheral vision. Though it often seems to avoid populated areas, it can be lured into them using a certain frequency. Even then it never stops moving and cannot be captured or detained. However when it does pass through/over a person’s shadow, it is said to leave a piece of itself behind. The person may go for years without ever knowing that they have been “infected” by this strange fragment. Out of the blue, the infected individual will start to live out their hidden fantasies, no matter how bizarre or dangerous they may be. Some times the condition will pass, but in more extreme cases the infected will “fuse” with their shadow to become a physical embodiment of their fantasies. Such being are not extremely powerful, and it is rather easy to turn them back to normal by knocking them unconscious. There are those who seek out such individuals though in hopes of collecting the shadow fragment within them for their own purposes. Such individuals will go to pain staking measures to get their hands on even a tiny fragment of the shadow stuff, even if it costs a person their life in the doing.
----------------------------------------
Yondle Doomdelver: Four hundred years ago, an alchemist named Kevin Mortorman was experimenting with an unusual scale brought to him by Scottish authorities. They claimed a man was found wandering the country side with it in his possession and ranting about a monster in the earth that would devour them all. He was clearly mad, but a local duke requested that Mortorman examine the scale to determine its origins. While experimenting with the strange, dried piece of skin, and an acidic mixture, the room was suddenly flooded with a thick, yellow smoke. The smoke spread into the sky and caught the attention of the local town’s folk who feared a fire had broken out. When they arrived they saw Kevin come from the house and let out a hideous roar as his body began to change. His skin became yellow, his muscles became thicker and more solid, his hair became like tentacles, and he grew a massive pair of bat like wings. Before his mouth twisted into a more bestial state, he cried out to all who would hear him. “I am Vandel the Doom Strider, first of many to come! Fear not Yondle Doomdelver, for his is the peace of immortal death!” What had once been Kevin Mortorman then flew into the air and vanished from sight, never to be seen again. A century later a massive manifesto full of mad ranting and alchemic formulas was found by a villager, along with several more of the plate sized scales. Thus began the Doom Strider cult; servants of Yondle Doomdelver. The cultists claim their hidden master is a reptilian goliath that is ten times bigger then the largest blue whale, and seeks to gift humanity with immortality through a half life state called “the wandering”. The Doom Striders are a rather large, but secretive order that seek to obtain the wandering, and help humanity as a whole to achieve it. They have learned how to harvest more scales from their sleeping master through a dreaming state achieved through alchemic potions. They use these scales to empower themselves and to create more powerful servants. They are by far one of the most dangerous groups in existence that too few people are aware of.

Update: regarding Decade, Gokaiger, and similar, potential Precure character.
[hide] Okay after some thought I have decided to allow Decade, and Gokaiger, but their powers are gonna be limited. Basically they each have their own forms and normal abilities, but their alt forms will be limited to the heroes whom they meet, and those they earn over time.
In other words if Decade meets and creates a strong enough bond with Kiva, then he will gain the Kiva cards. If Gokaired meet and befriends Bull black, then same dif. This also counts for custom characters. Even better they won't be limited to their own types so Decade could become a Ranger as much as Gokaired could become a Precure.
After some more consideration I will allow them to gain other forms and abilities via the power of imagination, Gai Style. This will be closely monitored though to keep a balance of power between characters. I also don't want to see everyone trying to be a character like this, but two or three should be fine.
*Sigh* I never realized how hard Decade and Gokaiger are to work with in RPs like this.
