Ultraman Retsuden - Ultraman Biography show

Sigh......more of the same, lame, rejigged, rehashed sticky tape-and-plaster fill-in stuff we've had to put up with since '06.......
A bloody tragic way for the Ultraman TV series to mark it's 45th Anniversary.

In case you haven't heard leemo, a third movie is on it's way. You know, it's been announced since last year, at the end of the Ultraman Zero movie?

But one movie a year is not enough Darkside! We need the full-fat, fully-funded 50 episode TV series......(those KR fans are spolied rotten).

To be fair, Ultraman is the superior product.

You can argue that as much as you'd like...but it is.

Look at a show like Ultraman Nexus, or Tiga, or Dyna, or Gaia, or ANY recently made Ultra series (...maybe not Cosmos...) and you see...well, something that's much less merch driven, far more story driven.

It's like if the Kuuga era of Kamen Rider never actually ended and only changed the flavor of the story being told from year to year.

Of course this means that Ultraman is less profitable, and it doesn't help that the company behind it is as freelance as it is, instead of being a major corp like Toei.

Story absolutely comes first for me, I like the extended arcs and characterisation a TV series can give. The extra budget in the movies is nice for sure, but I was happy enough with the effects in Nexus, Max and Mebius. (It's only Ultra Galaxy that was just too cheap and cheerful).
