Ugh...my arteries hurt.

Goddamn!

I'm so sorry to say, that does look tasty. :anime:

It doesn't seem to me to be any different then eating gizzards. I have to agree that it does look tasty but then again, I love deep fried foods. The trick is to eat in moderation - one or two pieces is fine, just not a giant plate with two pounds of deep fried bacon!

^ As in deep-fried Mars bars? Those are the ****! You have to be careful not to burn the roof of your mouth from the molten chocolate and nougat, but they're SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! :anime:

Not just Mars bars. Snickers... kitkats... milky ways... all deep fried.

Every New Years Eve, the food we serve at our parties is nothing but deep fried goodies. Deep fried... steak tips, gizzards, chicken wings (hot wings), veggies (carrots, mushrooms, onions), chocolate bars, doughnuts, apple fritters, banana fritters. We usually have three deep fryers going - one for meat, one for veggies/fruit and one for fried doughs. Yum, yum, yum.

I have a deep frier at home, I'm gonna go buy a few candy bars and deep fry them to see how good the taste.

Damn! Remind me to get your address next New Year's Eve!

Just remember to not have TOO much batter on them before you put them in the oil, otherwise it'll get too doughy. Conversely, you don't want the batter to be too thin otherwise you'll just wreck the chocolate bar. Think tempura shrimp or KFC, that's more or less what you're looking for in terms of how thick the batter should be.

Easiest way to get around that problem... Japanese tempura batter. That or the cheap mushroom batter mix sold for like 75 cents.

What I do, is (depending on what I'm deep frying) is to coat the food with either milk or lemon juice. If it's a fruit or veggie then it's dump it quickly into lemon juice (so it's wet) then into plain flour (or if it's like apples/banana with a wee bit of sugar) then into the batter. If it's something like a chocolate bar then it's milk, flour (with a pinch of salt) then batter. Gizzards get egg, flour (with salt and pepper) then batter. Oh and trick to gizzards... they need to be boiled in salt water for 15 minutes so it's tender otherwise if you fry them without boiling they become hard little rocks. Oh use different oils - we use peanut oil (meat), soybean oil (veggies/fruit) and veggie oil (doughnuts/chocolate bars)

Dammit. Now I'm hungry and there is no major deep frying until New Years! :bawling: I should deep fry some gizzards though.

ouch watching that video made my chest hurt, but for some reason i'm also getting a craving for some colonel
