Not a bad PPV... not as good as I had expected though.
Mac Danzig had a great win, as I suspected he would, I was just surprised that it took him as long as it did to put the guy away. Props to him though for a good showing. I thought it was funny that Whatshisface was all "To prove himself he's gotta go through ME!" even though nobody had even heard of him before.
Michael Bisping was in awesome shape... I was getting a bit down on him after his last two subpar performances, but he's redeemed himself in my eyes. Great physique, great conditioning, heightened intensity, overall really good fight and a better fighter at 185.
What I didn't think was funny was Nate Quarry's antics. Besides being really immature and unprofessional, I think he just made himself look like even more of a jackass considering that he had Starnes for 15 solid minutes, in which he had NO opposition, and still couldn't manage to knock him out. Lame fight.
Rich Franklin blah blah... I don't even remember that fight. I think he won. Who cares.
St. Pierre vs. Serra, the BIG ONE! And what a fight it was... sorta. Honestly I was pretty disappointed. There was 14 UFC events' worth of delays, months of hype, and an already solid rivalry, and the "fight" ended up being one round of rolling around on the ground and one half round of St. Pierre making Serra look like he'd never been in a fight in his life. Those body knees looked like they really smarted though, and I think that was maybe only the third or fourth body KO I'd ever seen, cool. I'm really happy for St. Pierre, he deserves the belt, and I hope he continues giving all he has to defend it.
The best part of UFC 83, IMO, was after it was over and my skinny, chainsmoking friend Brett was so pumped up that he thought he could take it to my very very large, ex-wrestler friend Jerrod... now THAT was an awesome beatdown.
