It's one of the best chinese films I've seen all year. My dad and I watches a lot of chinese martial arts films, mostly all of them are dubbed in Thai, but hey, in Thailand, it's fun to watch it dubbed rather than subbed.

But yeah, I thought it was an excellent movie, and surprisingly, the way he was doing those moves near the end of the movie, I thought he was nearly break dancing.

This belongs in the Rising Sun Forum.

And yeah, the movie was pretty decent right up till the end which sucked.

This movie's best strength was the fight choreography and storyline until it got to the final act. I have to say that the final act of this movie really brought it down instead of up. There was no need for the "Fearless"-type fights against foreign wrestlers. It just felt unnecessary and forced as if Yuen Woo Ping felt like since it worked in Fearless, it could work here. It didn't work although I did enjoy seeing Vincent Zhao beat up the wrestlers. Enough of the final act, the first two acts of the film were great though. Andy On was awesome as the villain and I felt he was menacing and and made me wonder how Zhao was going to defeat him. Oh yeah, the training sequences with Jay Chou didn't make much sense either. Did it really happened or was it all fantasized? This film could've been awesome, but instead, it's a borderline 7/10 from me.

Damn, I was hoping to check this out, since it's the first film directed by Woo-ping Yuen in years. I'm somewhat torn on this now.

:eyebrow: C'mon man, they couldn't have made it more clear that it was all happening inside his head.

I was excited to see a new offering from Wo Ping, especially outside the confines of the studio control system, but unfortunately True Legend played out like more of the same. Not that it was bad (YWP doesn't have it in him to make something sub-par), but it didn't do much to distinguish itself from Fearless or any of his other recent martial arts projects and I think it lacked impact because of that.
