Watching these from the beginning and in order, since I've never seen them before. Up to the Blade stuff.

You know... if Decade had been like this, I'd've never gotten into Kamen Rider. This is the "Fanboys Only, No Outsiders Allowed" Decade I originally thought the show was going to be before my friend twisted my arm for me to watch it.

I hear enough complaints about Decade being a Mary Sue--but in these... oh God, I don't speak Japanese but as far as I can tell he LITERALLY just walks in to the KRs of that world minding their own business, goes "sup", and then fights happen then WHOOSH off to the next world, rinse, repeat. And he's barely in these to begin with! So instead of the character development and insecurity he used to have to go along with what I described above, now he's just the instant God Mode button. Good job, guys, you just made your biggest complaints aside from the AU recasts even worse! :laugh:

The videos are still fun to watch, though, very technically impressive, and fun nin a fanfictiony sort of way. and I get the feeling I'm in for a treat once I get to the W crossover, but man. I'm laughing at the irony.

Man, the final war is pretty epic. I still really wish someone could do a quick sub of these, if they make any sense heh. Especially all the riders transforming together.

Tsukasa has finally arrived in Double's World.

Wow! Now this is another awesome episode of the True Kamen Rider Decade fanisode (fan episode). Seriously, Double may already be enough with his own show but with this Decade here fighting Dark Decade? More badasseries! Now this should've been what happened for Decade's final episode to end the 2000-2010 Kamen Rider era.

The way the guy meshes everything together perfectly is amazing. This guy is a genius. I just love all the fights he makes. Just awesome.

Except that if they had the original actors back it wouldn't have been like this at all because they wouldn't be editing in footage from their previous shows.

Also what in the hell would have been "no outsiders aloud" about it? Kamen Rider is a well known and beloved series in Japan where every show is meant to try to appeal more people than just "fanboys".

Do you really think that if they had all the original actors in their parts to begin with and were able to write the stories with that in mind they wouldn't have made some effort to establish who these characters are for people who didn't watch a particular series and have some kind of development with them? If you're trying to use the example of these edited videos as some kind of win-card against Decade haters it does not work.

Yeah, the make-up story were great to make like the original characters are either fight against Tsukasa or help Tsukasa.

I fully agree with you on that point. Just the same, crossovers are sketchy territory by nature. The more characters and series you add to a crossover, the more you risk parts of the audience being lost for parts of the time while the story is being told, and that can all add up.
The optimum audience member of TKRD appears to be one who has watched through every single Heisei Rider and can thus fan over every one of them. That was what I meant by "no outsiders allowed". Which is fine, I've got nothing against folks celebrating what they like, but it also means I, a stone-cold newbie, never would have gotten into Rider.
Meanwhile, one of the reasons I find Toei's Decade as a series so fascinating is that I've never seen anyone pull the other extreme before in terms of a crossover. You seriously don't have to watch any of the shows to get it (and you might be inclined to do your research to get more into what you're watching!) It seems to have been made entirely for outsiders and long-lapsed nostalgia buffs, and the conclusion to the show supports this. Thus, it got me hooked.

(As an aside: the main character was also someone I could personally identify with--seriously, Tsukasa is one of my favorite parts of Decade--so reducing him to Barely A Plot Device did to me what Toei's Decade did to a lot of longtime fans. Turnabout's fair play, I suppose. )

Hell, I don't know. That's a question you'd have to ask both Toei and the folks behind TKRD. This is Heisei Kamen Rider. Before W, the show line wasn't exactly a bastion of competent exposition in its storytelling.
Plus, all of those Riders go through a hell of a lot of development (character changes, powers, etc.) by the time their series are ended. Another challenge would have been to pick the timelines for the characters to be used, and the baggage that comes with those selections makes the writing all the more complicated.

If you're trying to use the example of these edited videos as some kind of win-card against Decade haters it does not work.

For clarification, my main points are that
- This is more what I thought Decade would be like when I first heard of it, and I'm glad I was wrong otherwise I wouldn't be here. Personal thing.
- Had Toei's Decade been like TKRD I would have been utterly lost and unable to feel as if I could fill in the blanks myself. Another personal thing.
- By removing so much of the title rider from the show, the name of the video series, along with the series itself, becomes ironic. Bad? Depending on your perspective, the answer ranges from "Not really, I expected that" to "Are you kidding shut up this is awesome." But ironic? Dear God yes.

Anything else is your own personal conjecture, man, and I refuse to associate myself with it.

BTW, I didn't mention this above, but I eventually finished the series and had the time of my life watching the last three episodes! All Riders should've had some kind of group henshin, man. -_-
