I would like to thank my friend for waiting in that sucky suck suck of a line to pick this up for me knowing full well that he was missing out on the thing he wanted to get even though he ended up getting it cause his wife waiting in that line to get what he wanted.

It wasn't actually NECA's idea! A fan customized a NECA Jason into those NES colors, the pics found their way to NECA, and the rest is history. There's no animosity on the original customizer's part, which is great even if there would be legally nothing he could do about it were he to get pissed off about NECA using the idea for an exclusive product.

EDIT: Do you know if that fan based the packaging off of the old NES package?

The box is all NECA as far as I'm aware. Quite sure he didn't do anything about a box; it was simply a fun repaint. The clear/GITD parts and the box were all NECA.
