Torchwood (Dr Who Spin-Off)

I think that, [hide]Gray is actually the friend that he's talked about to the Doctor, Rose and Martha... and I think the Torchwood gang as well. It would be too weird to know that the Face of Boe has a child.[/hide]

The only thing I'm not liking, and I hope they explain it, is if he lost two years of his life to the Time Agency then why does he remember so much about his past? He must have been with the Time Agency much longer because he was locked away with John for five years in a time loop.

I don't understand, what do you mean by that? Selective amnesia where they just forget a certain period of time is common.. Or it could have just been a mind wipe or something.

...Gah, I can't remember him mentioning a friend like that. I usually just thought it was referring to The Doctor, because of the whole every companion falling in love with him thing...

I'll have to double check the episode but I could have sworn that he told the doctor that two years of his life with the Time Agency were stolen from him. YET, here he is capable of remembering his time with them along with the person he worked with.

I'm starting to wonder if the Time Agency were nothing but con "men" traveling through time stealing stuff.

So it seems that we won't have to wait very long for Season 2 to start airing here in the states, cause on 1/26, BBC America is airing the first episode of the second season.

Second episode:

Is it me or is the added humor coming off a bit forced?

I liked Ianto being a bit of an oddball in the latest episode, with his little "electric chair" bit when the team was setting up that mind probe, but it kinda felt like it came out of no where. His whole "I know everything" bit did feel more natural, and I loved that because it wasn't too different from his sarcasm of the previous year. However, the one comic bit that I thought was truly forced, and made the team look like fools, was the whole telephone system being down and there being absolutely no way to get in contact with Jack. Maybe it's just because they rely too much on the more complicated tech, but you'd think they'd be prepared for every emergency.

And I have to laugh considering they changed that "21st Century" intro speech Jack gives in the start of every episode so now it says "Torchwood is ready." Obviously they aren't. I'm not really complaining much, but it's just odd how in some ways the show has taken this odd turn and has this different feel at times yet with how the latest episode ended it isn't all that different. I just think there needs to be a better balance between the lighter moments and those typical disturbed ones, without resorting to making the team look like fools...:disappoin

Excellent episodes this week (one new episode on BBC TWO, and another premiered on BBC THREE)

"Adam" was a partial rip-off of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode "Superstar", even including Adam in the opening narration

[Hide]Adam is revealed to be an alien trapped in the Void, who can only exist through people remembering him, so he implants false memories into everyone, even playing around with their characterstics. Owen becomes less cynical and starts wearing glasses, Tosh becomes more confident and becomes sexually involved with Adam, and Gwen almost kills her boyfriend Rhys (now aware of Torchwood after last week's episode "Meat") because Adam didnt know of him.

He even persuades Jack through false memories that he's his most trusted confidant, and this enables him to learn of Jack's past, the long buried memory of losing his brother Grey and his entire family. Adam even punishes Ianto when he uncovers the truth by providing him with memories of three murders he took delight in.

Jack eventually works things out using the CCTV camera and the diary entries not listing Adam, and convinces the team to take a retcon pill themselves so they forget the last two days, which almost kill him, but he clutches on to Jack's memory of his home galaxy, forcing Jack to forget his last true memory of it to eliminate Adam[/hide]

The following episode, "Reset" featured the first of Martha's three apperances

[hide]This episode reflected a much more professional team trying to shut down a race of parasites being used as cures for AIDS and HIV (regenerating their vital organs) but they usually awaken from their comatose state and rip their way out of the paitents, killing them.

The scene with the team using a dead body as a decoy driver to get past the security perimeters around the research facility was morbidly funny. Some nice amount of sweat-ridden Martha clevage too.

Owen also decided to respond to Tosh's date...but the episode's ending forced the lead scientist villain to shoot that appointment down. I'm sure Owen will find some way of looking lively for it before the ending of next week:laugh:[/hide]

Big news for the season finale

[hide]James Marsters returns as Captain John.[/hide]

Also, this season will be Chris Chibnall's final season as head writer, as he's jumping ship to write the new Law and Order: London series. Other rumours are that virtually every cast member is leaving, including Barrowman, and only Gwen's actress is remaining for the confirmed third season

All the cast members leaving? That'd suck...
Well, I don't mind Owen leaving, in fact I'd be glad about that, but I like Toshiko and sometimes John... :(
They'd need to bring in another big name/ character if that's true.

Haven't really been enjoying the second season as much to be honest though. Had some REALLY good episodes, but downplayed the potential of the Ianto-Jack-Gwen and Tosh-Owen relations, and it felt stupid having John appear in the first episode then disappear completely for so long; and having the Grey storyline gone so long too.
Just getting kind of tired of it getting sort of episodic I guess. Next week's looks good though, even if it is another episodic one.
