I was watching the Kabuto Dub a while back and, I'll be honest, I didn't like it. But it wasn't so much that it was dubbed then it being badly dubbed. I was wondering that if it's not so much that dubs are bad in of in themselves that turns off the American people as much as BAD Dubs turn off the american public.

I rewatched Godzilla 2000 and while the dubs didn't bother me, the movie being boring (Till Orga anyways) kinda did the dub itself was fine.

Same with Godzilla: King of Monsters.

Volcano High with Andrea 3000 and other recognizable talent wasn't so bad either.

Would a dub be as bad if it had recognized voice talent, like Edward Ansner, ,Nolan North, Mark Meer, Steve Blum, Tara Strong, Grey DeLisle, Mark Hamill, you know A-list voice actors were doing voices, not them specifically of course but... Good voice actors?

The movie D.R.O.P. starring the guy who plays Tendou/Kabuto which got licensed over here by Funimation a little while ago has a solid dub too. I watched it on Netflix and I REALLY enjoyed it! You should definitely check it out for another example of an expertly handled dub.

Hmm...Glamador is inclined to say it's the quality of the dubbing that is bad, not that it is dubbed at all. However, it is nearly impossible to dub a live-action anything in a truly convincing manner. A dub of an anime is matching very simplified mouth movements compared to real human faces and therefore the margin for error is much larger.

So while it IS the quality of the dub, the chances of a dub ever BEING good are minimal. Giving the task to good voice actors is a fine idea in theory, but the lip-syncing will always be a glaring detraction.

I don't think dubbing is meant to 'fool' the audience that the V.A.'s voice is the characters on screen, rather then translate what the character is saying with out breaking the flow of the film.

Azumi's been dubbed in Eng. and Spanish, according to my DVD of it.
Ultraseven got dubbed and Dynaman got parody-dubbed.

UltraSeven has two dubs actually. One is a kind of parody dub, and the other no longer exists in any real form.

I heard from another source on here that the direct Hawaiian dub was done by college students..... but the TNT Cinar dub is actually uncut in its initial form, but cut for television.

Hopefully if and when the rights get rightfully settled, we will see the uncut dub.

I always forget about that actually. :laugh:

At least it was dubbed as a whole , including the films. Though tbh, the films aren't done by 4Kids......so they'll be interesting.
