Toku Special: PreCure Edition.

Finally, someone who speaks mole-ish!
Yes, although you have to be very careful with the pronounciation or else you end up speaking mouse instead.
I kind of get what you mean, personally i love Android Kikaider, but the show is extremely formulaic so if you are not into that sort of thing then it can be a chore to watch.
I enjoyed Zubat more than Kikaider and that show is so formulaic that you can know half the dialogue spoken in an episode before you've even pressed play. But that show could be insane one week and have high stakes the next, so even when the formula dragged me down I could keep going because I knew more fun was still to be had.

Kikaider was just a bit boring....consistantly. It's partially that I don't think some parts of the formula work especially well, but also that the writing for most of the series is below par - the Hakaider arc is by a long way the best story of the series, but it's only about as good as a middling story in the original Kamen Rider series.

The 90's Hakaider movie was good though, and if Kikaider 01 is as different as you say then maybe there's some fun to be had with it.
Also, do yourself a favor and go listen to the OP of Yes! Pretty Cure 5 Gogo, "Yes! Pretty Cure 5 Full Throtle Gogo". You can thank me later.
I found a playlist of all the pretty cure OPs on youtube earlier on and let it run through them all. I think Smile PreCure has my favourite theme song, and the intro animation is hella Sentai. :anime:
she also did exactly that in Gavan, except it was a hideous afro instead of a disco ball headdress, and she does disco aerobics instead, so i guess it's not really the exact same thing, but close :buttrock:
I'll keep an eye out for it if Gavan ever gets subbed.

Maybe I'm just speaking out of bias, but I really don't see how Smile's OP is better than Suite's. Sure [__]s civilian forms get added in a lil clunkily but, it makes up for it. That pan-up of them in their cure forms is amazing.
Smile's... I'll prolly watch the show eventually but, to me, that theme song is hella grating.

err, Gavan is subbed, it has been completely subbed since decades ago, not by TN or OT of course i think it was done by the more simple yellow sub text guys, either GUIS or Hi No Tori, can't remember which one.

unless you are waiting for a TN/OT sub, which i don't think will ever happen, outside of the newer movie next generation versions

It's probably in third place behind Smile and YPC5's themes. More guitar is always good, but those two have a certain sense of energy I don't get so much from Suite's theme.

I know Midnight Crew Subs did the first few episodes before dropping it when they entered their current state of apparent near death. Normally the "Who Subs What?" pages on the Orend's Range blog are pretty good at sniffing these things out but it doesn't list anything. I did have a quick google around a year or so ago but IIRC all I found was one streaming site with all broken videos and a lot of unseeded torrents. As always, I'll keep a look out though.

Somewhat more on topic, am I right in presuming that Pretty Cure is also fansub reliant and there aren't licensed streams out there? **don't post links to fansub sites, you'll only get in trouble**

in europe TOEI with RAI have rights to all precure series till Suite , ouside asia Saban have rights for Smile,DokiDoki, Hapiness Charge and future precure series

I think only Futari wa was officially subbed.

Futari wa got an official dub but, nothing in the way of subs.

Futari wa and Futari wa: Max Heart have been completely fansubbed by Arienai Subs, the ones who started Precure subbing.

Futari wa I think has an official sub on Hulu I think.

Splash Star was completely subbed by Splash Star Subs (Something like that, it's been 2 years).

Yes 5 has been jumping around from Arienai to CureCom and other subs. It and Yes 5 Go (subbed by Doremi) have been completely subbed last year.

CureCom completely subbed Fresh.

Doremi has been subbing Precure since Heartcatch and are all caught up. Other sub groups such as TV-Nihon, CureCom, and Aesir have subbed series along these lines too.

Well, if i recall correctly, someone did subbed all of Gavan, but unfortunately they distributed it solely by torrent and even then they were seeded briefly and there was not batch torrent or anything, so unless someone got them in time and decides to take mercy on the rest of us, getting a hold of Gavan completely subbed is nigh impossible.

But wait, this is not why i came here.

Oh, now i remember, since it is Friday and apparently i keep a schedule, Toku Special Part 5 is out now!

This time i will be taking a stab at one of the most underrated seasons of PreCure (Suite) and one of the most insane (Smile).

If you like Kamen Rider Kabuto, you shouldn´t miss this one.

Once again, you do make the shows sound really interesting. There was a point while I was reading this one where I caught myself thinking "so if I start with FPC as Ivanhobe recommended, then I can just go chronologically from there until I catch up completely". Then the other (more sane) part of my brain kicked in and pointed out that doing that would involve watching something like 300 episodes. When I'm contemplating that kinda stuff, I know I'm on the edge of falling down the rabbit hole.

Do what I'm doing: plan on doing a Precure panel for a con in April, and take the in-between time to watch everything you haven't seen yet. \(^.^)/
