Toku Shows that are well loved by the fandom that you don't like

I don't know much about Blade but Amazon still had to be ended pretty early if I'm not mistaken.
It lasted six months rather than a year, but what I've read online suggests that it was intended to be that long from the beginning as the TV network wanted to give the timeslot to a certain 'Himitsu Sentai Goranger' in the spring of '75.

Ah, alright then. Thanks for the info.

I just wonder. When has mid-series retooling EVER worked for a series?

Turboranger also pretty clearly gets retooled at about the 3/5 mark, with new villains and a new status quo introduced. The show becomes markedly better after that, with a lot more effort going into the production and writing.

Blade was retooled? When about during it's run? I remember it being really boring for the first quarter before it finally found a forward gear, but I can't say I recall a sudden change halfway through. Maybe it's just because I haven't re-visited Blade for a few years now

The last episode of the original writer is 28. After that, you've got two Inoue episodes, and then Sho Aikawa becomes the new main writer of the show alongside the new opening in episode 31. 31 also introduces the whole artificial undead subplot and Leangle was back to being evil again in spite of that story having seemingly been concluded in in the last episodes of the original writer. It's also at this point that it's established that Kenzaki was somehow still receiving his wage from Board, in spite of it being apparently destroyed and it never being mentioned before.

I could argue that SunVulcan was also a case of retooling success.

Personally, i liked the first half of the show, it had a few issues like VulEagle being incredibly bland, but i did find some of the ideas interesting, like the plots involving the Dark Shadow androids. That said, i have to admit that the second half, while definetily watered down, it was more entertaining to watch.

I don´t know whether or not it was a comercial success after the retool, but i could see it being better regarded after the fact.
