Toei tired of Disney?

I honestly don't understand why people blame Disney for "ruining" PR. Disney didn't do **** to the series except keep it from dying (and the occasional mandate). Any issues with the recent seasons are the fault of the producers, not Disney.

I'm new to this board, but I had been at another board for about a year.

Welcome to Henshin Justice! Hope you like the place.

The tiga dub was hilarious....but I honestly hope that 4kids never dubs a Toku show again.

If it means that we'll eventually get an uncut R1 DVD release in Japanese language with English subtitles through Funimation (like we did with Ultraman Tiga) ... then by all means, 4Kids can dub whatever the heck they want.

EDIT: Oh ... and down with all you haters. Dino Thunder was rad!

Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder was just MMPR Ver. 2.0

Not exactly. MMPR was embarrassingly bad. Ninja Storm did a lot of tongue in cheek jabs at itself and Power Rangers in general. Dino Thunder actually had some interesting characters, and did things right by not having Tommy overshadow the young Rangers.

But yeah, they do share qualities. But overall, NS and DT are both leagues better.

I've heard rumors about this too. I can't say anything definite, but since I love stirring the pot... I think what I heard was that Disney was actually unhappy with what Toei was doing and started asking for them to make things that would be easier to adapt into a PR show. Toei responded by saying "how about no?" and thus Power Rangers the animated series was born.

That's the rumor I heard, anyway. Who knows.

That's funny! "How about...no?" I bet Go-onger is so retro because of it.

I can hear it now, "Uhh, no. We don't need your money that bad."

Nevermind Toei tired of Disney.... I'M tired of Disney.

QFT!

Steve Wang was an Ultraman fan, watching it as a kid in Taiwan, before he moved to the US. I met Steve when he was still a teenager through a mutual friend, and we would get together and watch videos -- I brought over stuff like KIKAIDA and KAMEN RIDER. I think it was the first time that Steve saw KAMEN RIDER. This would have been around 1982/83. Steve was a far bigger fan of SPACE SHERIFF GAVAN than KAMEN RIDER -- mostly because of the stunts and camera work, which he worked into several of his early productions, such as THE KUNG FU RASCALS.

Dang, mah. You're so lucky! I'm really glad that Steve decide to make KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT. Good thing he's a fan of KAMEN RIDER for his life.

Disney has screwed up BIG time. Let's just hope Toei stops making footage for Disney and sends it towards ADV or 4kids.

Adness is only one good choice.

Give PR to Adness.

Are you insane, 4kids destroys all it touches.

EXACTLY!

MMPR was bad because it didn't take itself seriously, like Beetleborgs did. Besides it was considered experimental at the time. Also, you forgot to mention that Dino Thunder acknowledged its "counterpart" series.

PR before Kalish = Great
PR after Kalish = Great for SPD first half; afterwards it all went to ****

That's how I feel on the subject. Not all Disney seasons were bad; NS and DT were great series with decent actors (Grant McFarland FTW), but the instant Kalish took over, that's when it went to ****. It happened right after they introduced Omega Ranger in SPD; subpar storylines, TOO MUCH YELLING AND HEIGHTENED VOICES IN RANGER FORM, too much focus on some characters (*Cough*Nick*Cough*), unoriginal names (The Fearcats? WTF Kalish?), and the kicker...The Kalishplosions(TM).

*Cue bigass explosion happening behind the Rangers; 2 seconds later, close-up and slo-mo*

All in all, it was great when Disney initially took over, but I think it's about time to move on and get someone else to do the franchise. As someone else mentioned, the guys behind Kamen Rider Dragon Knight wouldn't sound too bad at this point.
