The Toku Unpopular Opinion Thread

I don't care for Enter at all

Same here.

Go-Busters only saving grace for me were the mech battles, and those started to lose steam when they went back to mechs that barely moved.

I don't' get all the hoola about Arisa Komiya other than her thigh and legs.

Part of her appeal is her being a lolicon during these lolicon-infested times. I'm not into that, but I can see why some guys dig her.

And I agree about Nao Nagasawa. It seems she's everywhere and it's weird. I like to be surprised about an alumni making appearances post their seasons, but not this often.

She's like the female Jason David Frank but without the huge ego.

It still to much for me. I can't get through a sentai general thread at /m/ without their being at least 20 posts of people posting nothing but legs and thighs shots of her.

Lmao I do! I just can't explain it. Often I end up not caring about the Pink at all, and skipping episodes if I knew beforehand it'll be about them. The only exceptions to this is Sakura and Mako, and to a certain extent Eri.

You sound like me with secondary Riders, ha ha. I have a pretty irrational loathing for most of them (in recent years I like Terui, Date and Beast)

I think my dislike of Sakura puts me at odds with most of fandom. She reeked of the fear that audiences would be put off by a woman who was too tough and capable so of course she had to be in wuv with the Red and drop everything for him with the show pretending it's empowering and look, she's catching her own prince!

Regarding Nao Nagasawa, she seems to be stuck in typecasting as the hot chick in tokusatsu/action stuff. It doesn't help that her looks are pretty much the sole reason for Nanami's popularity. Now that she's getting older, and nearing an age when most idols are forced into playing mothers or Bridget Jones roles forever, she's milking her image while she can

I remain convinced that Rin Takanashi signed on to play Mako because they assured her that she wouldn't have to do loads of fanservice or get her legs out. She seems to be trying to cultivate a more "grown-up" and artsy/international profile than the standard idol-girl, and I think that at the time of Shinkenger she knew that if her character went around in little shorts or a miniskirt, she would become better known for that than her acting

more like Sentai and Rider have been in a bad shape and that's sadly true. I don't see people complaining about GARO or any other Toku that much on here.
Lol go look at the news feed announcing that Zero's getting his own mini-series. It's virtually all people complaining about 'The One Who Shines in The Darkness' being lackluster. Most people moan about the current shows in their own threads, and they're the ones people tend to get the most passionate about. If it helps at all, I'm a dozen episodes into Ultraman Tiga and so far I don't really get what the big deal is?

Ultraman Tiga is a very, VERY slow show.

Like, everything about it is very slow.

I think it's because it was the first Ultraman show they made in literal years. The action and everything is SO MUCH SLOWER in Tiga, it's really baffling.

I think it's just a side-effect of the production team trying to find their footing with Tiga. As you said, it was the first Ultraman series in many years.

That being said though, while watching Tiga I never really felt it was all that terribly slow even with taking breaks between episodes.

Ultraman Dyna is at least more fun. Asuka is less... bland compared to Daigo. And he gets more backstory too. (At least when comparing their human identities.)
