The HJU Great White North TV Thread!

What about tVo? is that network still around?.
It's still around, haven't decently checked up on it ages, though, to really determine how "much" has changed so much as it "has" changed, though that's quite expected.

No fucking way, Bruce was in there?.
Well, not so much Bruce Campbell himself so much as a parody-lookalike of Ash from Evil Dead (complete with chainsaw arm), but you get the idea.

You'd be suprised at how many parodies and references, and obscure ones (at least for the target audience at the time) at that, popped up over the course of the show. "Bad Bob" was obviously dedicated to Mad Max, "Where No Sprite Has Gone Before" is obviously chocked full of Star Trek/Comic Book homages and popular lines (it was written by DC Fontana himself), and so on, with a lot more blink-and-you-miss-it ones scattered throughout.

One I remember quite well, and only really "got" the references recently, was the episode "Number 7," which not only was decently confusing and well written in it's own right, but was in fact, entirely dedicated to homaging "The Prisoner" (Golf jokes excluded, of course). "Be seeing you.", "Who is Number One?", and others all came from the show. Take a look at the episode and see if any of this looks (or sounds) familiar:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew2buHSISGE"]Clip from the "finale," "Fall Out"[/ame][/HIDE]

On another note, I'm assuming this should be a fairly familiar show:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuIZgFP7xOY"]Elisha Cuthbert and Tyler Kyte[/ame]
This next clip obviously proves it's "age."
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVQl62YMKvY"]Jay Baruchel and Elisha[/ame]

Who knew their hosts would continue to so many large projects?: Jay would go on to various roles including his recent role as Dave Stutler in "The Sorceror's Apprentice"; Elisha would become Kim Bauer for "24", and so on.

Apparently the only place the show is still airing on today is BBC Kids (in Canada), go figure.

OMG... PMK! I remember I used to watch that everyday before school.

My favorite Jay movie is definitely Fanboys. :laugh:

Here's one I think many remember as part of their early childhoods if they grew up in the nineties (though I do post it with a little reluctance):
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL8daMgZo18"]The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon[/ame]

And here is two recent ones from around the early 2000s:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-TTQFewS8s"]Dark Oracle[/ame]

[ame="http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/cc80/coreyconnection/Television/2002%20-%202030%20CE/?action=view&current=TalkingDogDemo.flv"]2030 CE "Clip"[/ame] (The show is a bit on the rare side but you can find proper episodes [or at least "an" episode] if you search hard enough)
