The D.C. Comics Thread - [CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

Seeing as this is a big year for DC with the release of Superman Returns, and the whole Infinite Crisis/1 year Later story arc going on.I thought stard a thread to get everyone's opinions on what's happening.Guess I'll start things off.

The Flash:
I think Bart AND Wally will return from the speed force. However I feel Wally is pretty much retired for good now.I don't know about Barry coming back as some people would like.I know they brought back Hal but, Barry I just don't know. I do think though when The Flash re-launches Bart Allen will be the New Flash.Which if that's the case will he return as a titan ?

Green Lantern: With everyone coming after Jordan it's definetly going to be interesting to see how he clears things up and if Clark Kent takes him up on his offer and joins the corps basically.I think Clark would make a cool Green lantern (Again) even if only for a while. With things heating up in Metropolis thanks to Toyman, LEx Luthor and The Prankster a decision needs to be made, and made now!

Robin: How's he clear his name ? What decision is Batman said to come to in coming months about Robin ? will Tim Drake be chosen as Batman's official successor ? Will Tim have to Leave the Bat cave as well ? I would like to see Tim finally brake away and not be considered a "sidekick" type character anymore.I know he's primarily in Bludhaven but, most people still see him as Batman's lackey.

JLA: At this point ( I thought I'd never say this in my 15+ years of reading DC comics) they may just be better off dead for now until the time of need comes again.

Teen Titans: Superboy may be gone but, not forgotten. I heard DC is in a lawsuit over his rights thanks to his creator.Pretty nasty one too.bottom line is if DC loses Superboy will be PERMANENTLy removed from everything DC has.I hope they win because Connor shaped up to be a really cool character in his own right. My opinions ? I think Gar MAY rejoin but, cassie I'm pretty sceptical on.Raven is iffy too just because of Gar re-joining or not re-joining since the two of them were obviously a couple at some point according to Robin in 1YL.Marvin & Wendy ? 1 word. WHY ????

Well sorry for the huge post but, these are the only comics I read every month so feel free to include any and all DC comics, and opinions.

Some notes:

-If Barry comes back, I'm quitting Flash. It'll prove to me that there really is no point in killing a character, 'cause they'll just be back within a day or two. :P Plus, I think Wally and Jay and Bart do the job quite well.

-Green Lantern: Clark'll have his powers back soon enough. I'd guess within about a month and a half. ;)

-Robin: In my eyes, Tim was never "Batman's lackey". Unlike Jason, or even Dick, he was the first one to get his own title. AND its lasted over 100 issues and over a decade. Sidekicks don't have their own books. I guess the real world thinks of Robin as a sidekick, but they also think Adam West made a really good Batman.

JLA: .....Who's going to write them, and how the hell are they going to top the mind-orgasm that was Grant and Waid's run? Answer to this? They can't, so don't bother. Meltzer? The guy that let Deathstroke beat Flash and GL, two guys who, if they wanted, could take Earth apart in days? Not happening.

Teen Titans: If they lose Superboy, DCU won't even be able to reference Connor, meaning their current storyline would go nowhere. That would suck massively. As far as the book itself....they really need to slow down on the action and focus on the relationships inside the team. How the hell's Robin sane after losing everyone he's ever cared about? (.....Actually, if everyone's reading the book...he isn't. ;)) How's Cassie doing after being without all of her friends when she needed them the most? And why the hell does the Titans line-up SUCK right now? Man, the next TT needs to come out soon...

Hrm...technically this could go in the Infinite Crisis thread, but oh well.

What's this about Clark not having powers and becoming a Green Lantern?

And when you say again do you mean that Elsewords-ish JLA comic where they fought The Key?

Personally, if they turned Superman into a Green Lantern for a year, they'd have my money. I would start picking up that book, cuz I remember seeing him briefly in the green and red and it was pretty danged awesome.

Love that idea.

So, with boring as **** Hal Jordan back, where's Kyle? He still a regular somewhere in the DCU?

The killing of Superboy irks me to no end. I can not say enough about how much I hated with what they did to his character and then killed him. I hope they think of a way to fix that. I don't care how... just fix it. :P

Clark lost his powers sometime during One Year Later and apparently Hal offered him a GL ring. Maybe IC# 7 will shed some light on that next month.

Hey, I happen to LIKE Hal, thank you.

And Kyle has a 12-issue limited series called Ion going on now.
[HIDE]When Jade died in the Rann-Thanagar War special, she gave all of the power Kyle had given her a while back, and that triggered his transformation back into Ion.[/HIDE]

They probably will. Even though Robin keeps striking out in all the re-cloning attempts he's made so far.

Wait... how the **** is twenty years "a day or two?"????!!!!????

If they want to bring Barry back, and it is well-written and thought out, I will buy it just as I was buying the Waid and Johns Flash book. I am excited that the dudes who did the Flash TV show are writing the book. Personally, I hope Bart doesn't fall off the radar because he was becoming very interesting with his change to KF in Titans and his maturation. If he comes back as Flash, that'd be cool. Hell, whoever comes back as Flash I look forward to reading about them.

Actually, Hal offered him a ring in Superman #651. The whole without powers thing, Hal was offering him an alternative. You are doing yourself a disservice if you're not picking up the Johns/Busiek run on the Supes titles right now. I got the 2nd printings of a couple of them to catch up and they are friggin awesome.

BTW, as a side note, the Batman/Detective Comics 8-parter done by Robinson is also a freaking must buy. Bats at his best and Gordon back as the commish!

That particular tale is collected in the JLA TPB "American Dreams." Also included in that TPB is the introduction of Zauriel and the JLA fighting some guys from heaven and stuff... it's really, really BA.

Here's a link to buy it for $8 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1563893940/002-8628369-9525626?v=glance&n=283155

Personally, I always read my good Marvel **** before all the DC **** I bought. Now, it's like they're almost equal. IC and OYL are a huge fricking shot in the arm for DC. It's great. I'm buying Batman and Superman for the first time in years and it rocks.

Like I said... they do that and they get my money once a month, no questions asked. I loved the glimpese of it in the JLA comic.

I can believe that, but..... WHY?

[hide]Jade's fucking dead!?!?!?!?!??!!! O______O[/hide]

They mangled the hell outta his character from what I saw. If they bring him back, give him a gorram proper costume for Cybertron's sake. Sheesh... :redface2:

Busiek's on Superman? Hmmmm.. that would be worth a read.

No need. I got the original copies.

Dude, before Kyle came along he was like, the definitive GL. And the way they redeemed his character with the whole Parallax revelation--what's not to like?
Don't get me wrong--Kyle's a killer GL, but having Hal back is awesome.

I've just never seen him do anything really that I liked. By time I was into GL, Hal was long gone.

And even now, I just don't see any kind of unique personality outta the guy. I know he's the definitive, but he's not much in the way of heroic charisma.
