Best Comics for Fans of Mystery and Intrigue?

[MartianManhunter51]

I've been really getting into mystery novels and shows lately, but I haven't read many comics that fit that vibe. I've enjoyed works like "The Cask of Amontillado" and shows like "True Detective." What are some graphic novels or comics that focus on mystery and intrigue, preferably with a darker tone? Any recommendations for titles I should check out?

You might want to check out "Gotham Central" if you're looking for a darker, gritty mystery. It's set in Gotham City and follows the Gotham City Police Department as they deal with the fallout of Batman's vigilantism while trying to solve crimes. The way it blends police procedural elements with the larger Batman mythos is fascinating, and the characters really stand out, especially Renee Montoya. The writing captures that same kind of intense, atmospheric intrigue you'd find in "True Detective." It definitely gives you that feeling of being entrenched in a world where the line between good and evil is often blurred.
