Those comments about Gosei Knight got me thinking- there might be some hope behind the writers after all.

Usually, before I put a character into a script just for the point of saying "Really? WTF is wrong with you guys- GET OUT!" I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of "OMG what the hell am I doing- even I know this is bad..." :laugh:

It's just a mechanism for getting out your frustrations of creating stupid characters. To be honest- I think they know that this is stupid & are just coming up with stuff for laughs now, which shows that they may be ready for something a little more... sensible next year.

Can someone please explain to me why the whole cake thing was more important than the monster? I mean why not just go back after defeating it, it is not like the family would remember being asked to wait either since they mindwipe the entire city after every battle anyway.

I think the crux of baking the cake was the promise, and the "smile". For one, I think Eri knew she made a promise to the bakery owner so she didn't want to break it, and also because she didn't want to disappoint the boy or whoevr he is... she probably thought the cake was an important thing that can make him happy or something

I've finally caught up all in all not impressed by anything here really the mech are pretty cool only because I have grown to love cluster ****. The war star were pretty weak villains I don't even remember where they came from or what their goal was besides destruction of humanity and the world, how ever the second set of villains are pretty cool and make the war star look silly. Gosei knight is really over rated. I've heard things like he's the only reason to watch goseiger but he's no different from the typical antihero ranger he kicks ass now but wait a few weeks and his ass will start getting beat like the rest of them.

I get that, but still it was just a cake and I think both the baker and the kid would be fine with her going out and stopping the monster from possibly killing people. Plus this episode had Hyde acting out of character by saying baking a cake is worth risking lives. I am sorry but they were horrible heroes this episode, a cake for a baby is not worth putting your friends and civilians in danger for no matter how happy it makes about half a dozen of people. The only good thing about this was GoseiKinght, which has caused him to close in on Hyde for my favorite character.

They never showed any but a monster that sabotages mechanical and electronic systems is very dangerous, and they did show him screwing with traffic lights. And I know it was just plot induced weakness/idiocy but everyone was having trouble with the gremlin until Eri showed up and threw flour on him.

To me, what Eri felt was important at that time was fulfilling her promise. It's quite obvious that she had faith in the others to settle the MOTW while she was MIA.

And Hyde didn't go out of character - he understood the importance of fulfilling a promise, as well as protecting the smiles of people, which was why he gave Eri the get-go.

Lastly, the crux of Ep 21 isn't about the cake or anything, but character development for Eri & GoseiKnight.

GoseiKnight:
- curious about protecting "smiles"
- obviously impressed with Eri for her flour trick (no matter how lame that was)

Eri:
- understood the importance of "procedure"
- let us, the viewers, see the zany "Eri" way in a new light

because reli, I like Eri after epic 21... and u can't imagine how much I wish she just disappeared from the show previously

It's Bandai really who need to be sensible. I know the writers have been... well, complete lazy bastards this year, but as Shinkenger showed, the introduction of all these it£m$ just gets in the way of what the writers have planned.
Yes, the writers could be more creative with the way they introduce the stuff on the show, but at the same time Bandai keeps churning out this stuff relentlessly and the writers get to the point where they don't know what's going to be introduced next. That's why we could only procede with the story properly in Shinkenger after everything had been introduced.

So I found it kind of interesting how much stuff the Shinkengers didn't use in the Shinkenger Returns special.

- No Daitenkuu or associated Origami
- Samurai Ha-Oh is mentioned but not used
- No Kyouryuu Origami
- No Mogyu Origami or Mogyu Bazooka
- No giant-size Daigoyou or his combinations
- No ShinkenGold fighting using the Daigoyou & jitte combination

Only the Inroumaru, basic Shinken-Oh, and the combinations involving the Ika and Ebi Origami appear. Based on that, I would be willing to speculate that those were the only power-ups the writers included when they pitched the show and Bandai cooked up all the rest to pad out toy catalogs.

If my speculation is anywhere near reality, then no wonder the Shinkenger writing team rapidly ran out of steam when it came to writing episodes about introducing new toys. Look at how many they got saddled with and how tremendously uninteresting most of them were after the Daitenkuu arcs.
