[TALK] America's Greatest Otaku

All your FACES are belongs to ME!!!
Just like what the title says.... America's Greatest Otaku - Documentary...

The upcoming 8-episode documentary/reality series from TOKYOPOP travels across America - to 20 cities across 12,000 miles - searching for OTAKU CULTURE and America's Greatest Otaku.

For 7 weeks in summer 2010, Stu Levy, along with road warrior cameraman Dice Kinouchi, and the "Otaku 6" (college students) Dre, Diana, Dominique, Meera, Stephan & Sully, visited all kinds of cool "otaku spots" in each city, and of course interview Greatest Otaku candidates. This was all filmed and documented and will now be presented on Hulu, beginning December 2010.

This is a serious but fun look at America's otaku culture - made by otakus for otakus.

Oh god no. I like anime and all...but there's a thing such as hiding you powerlevel...it's not a good thing to be an otaku.

And these Otaku are the hated Narutard, yaoi-loving, weeaboos that give manga fans a bad name...

Have you actually seen the show?

Yeah I've seen the video submissions. And every single one are the type no one likes to be associated with. I mean, come on, no one in public cares that you like to watch cartoon men have sex. And no one cares that you think Sasuke-kun is super kawaii desu nee...:disappoin

People like them are the reason normal anime fans hide our powerlevels because we don't want to be lopped in the same group as them.

I was asking if you've seen the actual documentary and not just the submission videos...

I have friends who have seen it. All of them say it is cringe-worthy. Since when was liking anime and manga such a big deal that you have to show it in public like a dog. I mean if you're asked about it, don't lie, but whatever happened to just treating it like a normal hobby? Speak honestly if asked about it, but don't go flaunting it about like a giant floppy dong. :redface2:

 You're quite prejudiced.... :P

And yet you still have not actually seen it yourself.

Just some...
