Superman Doomsday - Discussion Thread

ForeverRed

has left HJU. Not coming back.
Finally... today's the day!

I'm planning to own DVD after I'm done with my second job. I can't wait to see it. :buttrock:

DL it this morning and watched it on my 360. Acting was incredible of course (Directed by andrea romano) but I missed Dana Delane as Lois Lane. A great movie also in it's own right, but It felt lacking given the lack of any other DC characters at the funeral or in the action, I didn't expect Booster to fly in and name the creature Doomsday or anything like that but a few heroes at the funeral would have been nice. Also seeing Conner as only an easter egg was a tad disapointing. As much as I have to roll my eyes over the whole DC jumping on the animated movie bandwagon I'm still looking forward to JLA: New Frontier next year.

Also. "Insert a cathider into Satans Rectum and run it straight to Lexcorp!"

Best line EVER!

...wow. I have to say that movie was so amazing.

That was too violent, some blood, languages (few), romance and sorta nudity.

Excellent epic. :buttrock:

I can't tell which one is better, movie or comics. I think I would say BOTH!

Now... Justice League: The New Frontier is next... :buttrock:

I still haven't decided if I want to check this out.

I'm a huge Superman fan and as well a Bruce Timm fan. But just looking at the trailers I'm mystified as to why Timm chose to do the cheekbones again when the first two seasons of JL more than taught us that they don't work.

Then the trailer was going on about Superman being "darker" and defeated and I just kinda got turned off by the whole thing. (especially seeing him in that damn mullet and weilding a gun.)

I was never a fan of the Death and Return story in the first place but at the same time I feel like if anybody could make it work for me it would be alumni from the animated series. STAS is one of my three all time favorite versions of the character in other media. So I may give it a chance yet..

It's probably the least accurate of the comic adaptations coming up, but at least they were allowed to tell an original, and darker, story. This actually felt like the pilot episode for an all new Superman animated series.

It's a shame "Reign of the Supermen" wasnt adapted, but it has such a complicated long history involving the characters they obviously couldnt attempt it in the time allocated. Cyborg "Hank Henshaw" is one of the best Superman villains of all time, so I hope they find a way of using him in an animated medium sometime

I've watched it up to the point where Superman dies aaannnnd, I'm not digging it. Not nearly as good as the Justice League episodes that have dealt with Doomsday and Superman and Lois's replacments don't seem to love the roles. Anne Heche as Lois sounds forced, distant and sometimes a bit annoyed at doing the role. I guess it's not fair to compare her against the original that's been doing the voice for years, but I really wish they hadn't switched voices at all.

And the Superman cheekbones. Like, we can see it is the regular Superman that we like there and uglier cheekbones than the original ones slapped on him at the beginning of the Justice League are even more distracting here. And some chin divid.

This Doomsday is mindless, where the one in JLU could talk and was chilling in his savagry and how calmly he spoke.

Lex Luthor looks like he's succombed to anirexia and also throws me off on how ugly he looks now. His voice was okay.

My may problem with the new voices is.... you can feel that they just don't get it or love it. Like, they're just going through the paces.

I'll finish it up today, but yeah... I'm not hot on it.
