Super Sentai should have a alternate universe theme season

The further in time we go, the more evident it becomes that we just cannot reunite the entire alumni. KR faced this problem by traveling to parallel worlds and recasting the Riders we all know well. But when it comes to Super Sentai?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned AkaRed from Boukenger VS. Super Sentai. A red ranger who can perfectly imitate the powers and spirits of previous Sentai leaders/red rangers? Heck yeah! I'd choose that over any other set up any day! Just keep the costume, change the badge, and keep using him! We don't even have to give him a face, just make sure his voice sounds basically the same every time, even if you can't hire the same voice actor.

I really disagree. AU versions or suit only versions are much preferable to gimmicky "I can turn into everyone else" characters. Decade had those -in addition- to the AU/guests.

If you're just restrict the old elements to powers of some new character, you might as well not bother with them and just include Boukenger type homages. At that point, they're basically the same thing...

...I don't think a lot of people like to talk about AkaRed. He was Decade done badly, and he was all Boukenger's fault.

I think the only way to make AkaRed work would be to basically rip-off of Shurikenger's gimmick, where he pops up in human form in the guise of a former Sentai actor...a Red actor, in this case. Which Toei could still get a lot of the old Reds, the only ones who have quit acting are Battle Japan, Denji Red, Goggle Red, Red Mask, and Ginga Red. And the only one who seems like a jerk is Time Red.

meh. Metafiction sucks 90% of the time and I doubt Super Sentai could pull it off like Ultraman or Kamen Rider could do. Too many people, too many mechas, too many villians, it's just way way WAY too much **** to just shove in there and expect it to be interesting.

I heard somewhere that Nagai enjoyed playing TimeRed. But apparently his talent agency doesn't like the fact that he was a tokusatsu hero, so they refrain from putting Timeranger on his actors resume. Granted, this is from japanese youtube comments, so take it with a grain of salt.

Did Gingared really stop acting?

He was also the only Timeranger cast member to not do an interview for the DVDs or promote them like the other five did. That and not listing Timeranger on his resume sounds to me like he's turned his back on it.

From what I've read, yeah -- he quit around '02 or so.

I would say no to AU sentai. It would only spoil all the VS crossover. Time travelling is good though, but we should not be having another time-related sentai, since there is aready one.

With the Vs. Series, they don't need an AU concept for Sentai. But still, I would love to see the vs. theme used for next year's Sentai.

Yeah, but it was 10 years ago! There was 11 years between Zyuranger and Abaranger (both dinosaur themed), and 8 years between Kakuranger and Hurricanger (both ninja themed) so the fact we've had a time travel Sentai already doesn't matter.

I never thought about that, lol. They both have the ability to transform into past warriors. Decade is limited to his nine protagonist predecessors (theoretically he ought to be able to do Double as well, he had a Skull card so why not a Double one), while AkaRed can theoretically do any red ranger, but only showed Gaoranger through Magiranger, the then current BoukenRed's five predecessors.
