Suggestions for a Laptop?

Starting this week, I gonna start saving up money for a good laptop. Should take me about 5 weeks to get one. I did some looking around at a BestBuy a few days ago, to get an idea on prices & saw some of there smaller ones that go around from $399 to $499, which are probably the cheapest. Most of them were Toshiba and Dell brands. So I thought I ask here, what brand of laptop I should get & would be very worthy of my money?

I've seen them as cheap as $300... unless you're gonna be gaming on it bottom-of-the-line is all one really needs anyway.

As far as brands go I'm not sure which ones are better than others. That depends a lot on what you personally want in a laptop. I'd go "cheap yet functional" like Acer or Lenovo but that's just me.

This one I'm wanting to get to replace my dead laptop. All of this for 700$ unbelievable. It's gotten pretty good reviews as well.

I heard that Acer is a pretty good brand. It has a lot of features and it's only about $500.

If all you're going to do is browse the 'net and do word processing and watch movies and stuff, you don't need to worry too much about specs. I've got a 7-year-old Compaq Presario and it does everything I need it to do. Can watch dvds and toku on it and everything. Did a fresh install of XP Pro and it runs smooth as silk.

I never really understood the mentality of getting a new one every 2-3 years. If you're not gaming don't waste all that money.
