Suggest the Next Sentai For Me & MyGF!

Hey guys I have been a fan of Sentai for a while yet I have not watched all 36 series because I seem to only like a select few. So one day while My GF goes through my videos on my laptop while I am at work she stumbles on my sentai folder (Thank god lol) and starts watching GekiRanger. When I get off work she is already 8 episodes in and can't put it down. So we finish Geki and I decide the next best move is to watch Shinken. Now we are almost done with that and I would let her watch Gokai but I want to go through as many subbed series as possible that are worth watching. ..I'll give my thoughts on the ones I have seen and the type of Super Sentais I like and didn't like. I prefer the Sentai series that give off a shonen vibe (like Geki/Shinken/Gokai) or ones that have serious tones like TimeRanger.


Completed:
-GekiRanger: One of favorite which happened to be the first my GF discovered. FINISHED
-Shinkenger: This one reminds me of Geki but Japanese themed instead of Chinese. Loved it when I watched it and am currently rewatching with GF.
-TimeRanger: My All time Favorite so far! Loved how serious it got in some story arcs. Would have my GF watch it but I'd Rather wait for TV-Nihon to finish the subs rather then go through the low quality Ranger Red ones again.
-Gokaiger: Great series overall aside frm the final story arch feeling rushed! Will definitely introduce my GF to this one but would rather stall and let her familiarize herself with the other subbed series so she can appreciate more.
AkibaRanger: Not an "official sentai" but it was a nice short great watch that I feel my GF will enjoy after Gokaiger.

Stalled:
-DaiRanger: A nice series. Reminds me of what Geki would be like if it was released prior to the shonen anime era. I dig the creepy and old school Kung-Fu movie vibe it gives off. I like it but I was never in a rush to finish and would watch it when I didnt have much to do. 13 episodes in and I plan to Finish.
-MagiRanger: Haven't watched enough to give a solid opinion. Only about 3 episodes in. I like the sibling aspect and Magic theme because I love Harry Potter. Worth Continuing?
-DekaRanger:Watched the first 3 episodes and am not sold. Thinking about dropping unless you guys think otherwise.

Dropped:
-GaoRanger: I found this one to be meh. I was about 13 episodes in when I dropped it and it felt to idk...Childish? It didn't seem to follow the story arch format I love in other sentais and it just felt very typical monster of the week like with no over arching plot.

I say do Magi or Dai. Everything good about Geki you can find in Dai and done better. You don't seem to like episodic stuff, so even though I liked Dekaranger, I don't think you'll like it.

If you don't mind the outdated visuals and are into drama stuff, stuff from late 80s like Maskman and Jetman would also be good. Maskman particularly since you seem to be into martial artsy- stuff.

We seem to be in agreement as far as these Sentai Series go so where I would go next would be to finish Magiranger. Super cheesy but in a way that makes you feel good instead of nauseous. Drop Dekaranger if you aren't sold 3 ep's in you will not like the rest of the show, I personally got 20 ep's in but IMO drop it instantly and only deal with it in the Magiranger VS movie. Definantly go with Gokaiger though, the tribute episodes do a good job in the feel department as far as the older series go and you can decide which shows look good to you and go from there. Not my favorite but def worth a watch is Boukenger... fairly episodic but with just enough backstory mixed in to make the episodic stuff worthwhile. Don't be afraid to go right into Go-Busters either as far as quality television the first half of the show before Toei re-tools it to be more stock Sentai is brilliant.
Final Thought: Sentai can be very up and down, whereas another show in the same genre from the same company ranges from very good to some of the best TV you have ever seen. My final statement to you would be get your girlfriend, sit down, and watch KAMEN RIDER!!! My personal preference is the Heisei shows particularly Decade, W, and OOO however after watching every single minute of every Heisei Rider footage I can say my least two favorite shows (Ryuki and Fourze) are still better than 75% percent of Sentai. I think you might want to try Jetman or continue Magiranger.
Jetman is awesome in so many ways, and magiranger... that series was a lot of fun.

If you want a shonen-esque Sentai, honestly, I think you've pretty much seen the ones that are most noteworthy in that area (particularly Gekiranger). Most of those are pretty relatively new. I think the only one left to fit the style of shonen imo would be Magiranger. So you might fancy that one.

As for serious sentai, it doesn't really get anymore serious than Timeranger. I think the only other pretty serious in tone ones that come to mind are Maskman and Liveman.

If we're going by shows that are fully subbed, I definitely recommend Liveman, Jetman, and Dairanger. Hopefully you will find those shows fun.~

Personally, I think Dekaranger is definitely a show worth watching through. It might not be a favorite of your's, but Dekaranger is a pretty unique show in the sentai franchise with how it tells it's stories. It's pretty fun. So if you've got nothing better to do, try watching more of Dekaranger.~

Gaoranger I think is a pretty fun show. But it is very basic stuff as far as sentai goes. Since you seem somewhat new to sentai, Gaoranger might not be a show you would particularly fancy. But I don't think it's bad at all. I think it's worth watching through just for fun. I don't think Gaoranger is particularly childish, since honestly, it's probably the second most serious in tone sentai of the 2000s, behind Timeranger imo.

Not really, the plot is basic at best (at least until it starts bending over backwards to inflate Kai's ego because REDS FTW!!1). The acting is atrocious and the spells function is awful.

I haven't finished Gao yet (on episode 16) but, I thought 13-14 were real high points; you stopped at a really good couple o'episodes.

Everything good about Geki you can find in Dai and done better.

For a suggestion: I would suggest Ninja Sentai Kakuranger. Hikari Senshi started subbing the first few so, you should have enough to see if you like it or not.

I definitely agree with Shir to try Jetman. It's a show that you'll fall in love with the characters and their interactions. It's also fully subbed by GUIS so you don't have to wait for more episodes to come out. If you enjoy story arcs in Sentai, then you will love Jetman. It's renowned as one of the best sentai's of all time by the fans, and I would have to agree.

if you just watch a laugh out of watching a tokusatsu, then you need to watch Carranger. it's full of great humor but it is hard to find episodes with full subtitles without downloading subs on tv-nihon and/or places like that.
